Here in the Gold Rush town of Jackson California is Detert Park. The central element is a Little League field that sees heavy use as a Softball Field. The facility sits on the east side of California State Route 49. Overall the facility is clean and well designed with public bathrooms and a snack bar. The local Rotary is responsible for the public facility. The ball field is tight at 175 feet making for easy home runs. On a personal experience I did witness a girl smash a ball out of the park over the snack bar! The field does have a functioning score board and is lit for evening games. Seating is provided with two Grand Stands. Home and visitor dugout are covered. Parking is tight but there is plenty of space overall to handle 4 teams. The caveat is many spaces are up against the field fence putting many windshields in direct danger of home run smashes. I did not witness any during our tournament however a couple cars were hit on their roofs. The facility also sports a small skate board park and Tennis court. The tennis court is lit, the skate board park is not. Detert Park sits just north of Old Town Jackson and overlooks the historical Cemetery with chapel that does have a working bell tower. Enjoyable experience in Gold Country for some High School Fast Pitch Softball.

Park is great. Lots of stuff for kids of all ages. Lots of play structures, a tall slide and swings. Its behind the pool. Only downfall is the homeless hanging around, but they kept to themselves. There is a restroom but I didn't check it out because the homeless seem to use it.p

Beautiful baseball park but no snack bar. Otherwise, a nice place to visit. Bring your own food if you have a baseball game.

We wanted to play tennis but the tennis court was chained up and locked.

Watched the Fireworks. Great band and good turn out. Was disappointed by lack of benches and tables. Also restrooms by play structure were filthy with no soap or paper towels. Anticipation of a crowd should also require preparedness. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed the fireworks and watching kids play.

Love the field and park. Too many homeless though

I was passing through town and decided to stop here to give my daughter a break from a long drive. I was surprised and apprehensive after seeing at least three sketchy men in an otherwise empty park, one clearly homeless and sitting hidden in the bushes doing who knows what, another sitting in his car looking at his phone, and another sitting on a bench close to the playground looking at his phone. Not sure why they chose a children's park to hang out by themselves but it put me on high alert. We stayed for 20 minutes before I decided it was time to leave, and of course that's when the playground suddenly got an influx of children. I guess we were there a bit too early at 9:30am? 😅 Not sure if we'll come back if in the area again. I would definitely recommend being cautious here and aware of your surroundings at all times. Playground: Outdated and worn, the structures are too high off the ground due to lack of tan bark. Restrooms: Sketchy, appeared dirty from the outside.

Good sized playground, picnic areas, plenty of grass, beautiful trees, creek nearby, right next to the library and public pool, in the downtown area. Still a lot of debris that needs to be cleaned up from the storm. A strange guy lurking around the area carrying a stick, trying to approach us so I wouldn't go alone. Bathrooms were locked but there are clean public bathrooms in the library.

I went to go there but too many homeless there. Who knows where they clean and use bathroom s. Wish city would clean up as it would be nice park

Homeless party hour, all hours here. Upsetting because the playground is extraordinary. The cops need to be more ontop of the shenanigans going on here, for the young kids sake!

To many homeless. Not really a safe place to go to.

Not really what I expected. Little cliffs for kids to fall off on the walking paths. Not crazy steep but someone could easily get hurt if they stepped wrong and tumbled down. Super cool creaky old bridge that leads to a path, that leads right up to a road. Play ground equipment says it's for smaller kids but all the slides are crazy high off the ground at the end. My kids were flying off right on to their bottoms pretty hard. The ground is uneven, the bathrooms were pretty bad, cigarettes on the ground in the bathroom. No soap but they did have toilet paper. There were at least 6 homeless people hanging out but they didn't bother us and seemed friendly enough. My kids had fun but I don't think we will be returning.
