One of my favorite parks in Pasadena, with some natural areas. There’s an upper area with the playground and restrooms, and a lower area with picnic tables, and basketball, tennis, and handball courts. Plus there’s a natural areas, with a cute bridge that’s fun to explore with a dog. Playground: Shaded playground. Restrooms: Yes. Dog-friendliness: Dogs on leash allowed, poop bag dispensers. Picnic area: Shaded picnic area

Very nice park! Has a shaded playground area for the lil ones that includes swings, slides and a lil jungle gym. A lil body weight exercise area that's pretty nifty. Lighted tennis and basketball courts. Not to mention nice walking paths with trees everywhere. Pretty family-oriented. A place I'd definitely take my lady and lil ones. Playground: One of the better things I noticed is there's a shade sail above the whole playground- no more burnt bottoms on the slide! Restrooms: Typical parks n rec restrooms. Sometimes they're clean, sometimes not. Dog-friendliness: Dogs seemed friendly with me. Picnic area: As far as eating on the grass or in the shade - good to go

Beautiful park, lots of places to picnic, walk, exercise, play basketball, handball or tennis, has a couple playground areas for kids, and there's a community building, where I assume classes are given. I wonder if they rent the building out, as well. It would be cool, if they did. I'm just disappointed that I had to avoid broken glass as I walked from my car in the parking lot to the first covered picnic table area. There was also some trash under the picnic table, but, honestly, not much. It's a gorgeous, peaceful park for me to take a lunch break at this afternoon. I would definitely come here again. Playground: The Playground looks clean and fun. I would have loved it, as a child. Restrooms: I like that the restrooms are readily available. I haven't gone in to them yet. Dog-friendliness: If I had a dog, it would be a great park to walk them around on leash. Picnic area: That's the only slightly disappointing area of the park. I wish someone would come here to make sure that the trash and small broken glass was cleaned up.

I've lived in Pasadena for 20 yrs & never knew this park existed. It has 2 rachet ball courts, workout machines & swings, which are out of service due to Covid) Also 2 gazebos with picnic tables. Unfortunately the gem is not well maintained by the city. Otherwise great place for everyone 😎

Lots of variety within the park. Basketball courts, baseball field. Swings, exercise equipment, big kid and little kid play structures. There is a garden like area in a mini canyon. There is a homeless presence, and I've NEVER been bothered by them.

Washington Park is one of the City of Pasadena's earliest public parks. Renowned landscape architect Ralph Cornell and horticulturalist Theodore Payne were hired by the City in 1922 to create a plan for the park and “sunken gardens.” Among Payne and Cornellis other Pasadena projects are Memorial Park and La Pintoresca Park. Torrey Pines Preserve and the grounds at Occidental College were further collaborations. Individually, Cornell's many projects include Elysian Park and Griffith Park; Payne's include Rancho Santa Ana and Descanso Gardens. The Theodore Payne Foundation for Wildflowers and Native Plants operates a nursery and carries on his work today. A wash that ran through the park may have been part of a stream called Woodbury Creek. The Eastside Storm Drain captures run-off for a large area north of the park and cuts through the park on the west side. In 1940, the Works Projects Administration constructed a sidewalk to cover it and built a natural stone retaining wall. The new Community House was completed in January 2024.
