Best Tennis and Pickleball courts in El Sobrante, Contra Costa County for 2026

Lakeridge Athletic Club in El Sobrante

Summary / Description

2 tennis and 6 pickleball courts. A very pleasant gym/club with cardio equipment, weights, a large pool, a steam room, a sauna, a hot tub, tennis courts and bocce lanes, basketball. The pools are filled with tons of kids all day because of a summer camp they run, the hot tub reeks of chlorine just walking by it (sign of chemical imbalance) and is always full anyway.

That's a great place to enjoy our time. It's spotless and organized, with friendly and helpful staff. Big parking lot including electric charger. Cover with solar panel. So, environmental helpful. You can d many gases here with your friends, or you have a chance to make new friends here. They are lovely people. Buddy Building, swing pool, basketball, racket ball, tennis, and other sports that you might be interested in. So, make sure to come over there and try at least one time. They also have child care all day long. 8:30 am to 8:30 pm. It's imaging.

Great club. Only thing that I don't like. The extra court they have does not have good rules associated with its play/entry. Any person can just enter the court, and totally disrupt an ongoing game that another member has underway. That is ridiculous. Should be first come first serve.

I came in for a tour after driving by this place for months now. I was greeted by very friendly staff and given a tour by the manager. He was thorough, answered all my questions, and was very kind. Now, I wanted to love this place, but it's a hard one. The pool, sauna, and steam room was a pleasant surprise. I love the outdoor area and the views are incredible! However, I was unimpressed (to say the least) with the equipment and the decor. They have a wide variety of equipment, but like the interior design was unpleasantly outdated. You can say that it's a gym, and as long as you can get a workout in, it shouldn't matter. But for the membership price, this place could do ALOT more and I really hope they do. I could see this being a great athletic club, especially since there aren't many in the area. If or when they make the much needed upgrades, I'd gladly become a member.

AVOID THIS PLACE – PREDATORY FEES & SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES I regret ever signing up for a membership here. What started as a simple way to give my kids swim lessons turned into an expensive lesson in bad business ethics. The biggest issue? They trap you in a contract and then hit you with an outrageous $500 termination fee when you need to leave—without a clear explanation. I asked multiple times why the fee was so high, and the responses were vague, dismissive, and defensive. If a business can’t justify its own fees, that tells you everything you need to know. Beyond the shady billing practices, the swim program itself is underwhelming and borderline unsafe. The instructors are mostly teenagers who seem more interested in chatting than actually watching the kids. I never felt like my kids were getting the attention or instruction they deserved. For a much better experience, go to Canyon Swim down the road—they actually care about their students. This place is a money grab, not a community-focused facility. If they put half as much effort into their programs as they do into squeezing money out of families, maybe they’d have a business worth supporting. If you’re considering joining, think twice—or better yet, don’t. I wish I never had.

Im paying 8x the price of a Planet Fitness membership to be a member here - so I expected adequate AC and ventilation when Im trying to use the already ancient treadmills. Instead, the treadmill area gets ridiculously hot. Really disappointed so far with the actual gym facilities, might give it another month but probably going to cancel soon. The outdoor courts are nice and the staff are nice too, but honestly thats it. The pools are filled with tons of kids all day because of a summer camp they run, the hot tub reeks of chlorine just walking by it (sign of chemical imbalance) and is always full anyway. I really just wanted a nice, usable gym and I find myself missing Planet Fitness. For paying $190 a month as a couple plus a $495 initiation fee I definitely expected more. Not trying to be rude - just my honest feelings. Bottom line: If you charge people premium fees then you should be providing a premium product/service. Upgrade your ventilation, turn up the AC, upgrade your gym equipment, fix the hot tub chemicals. This all should be easily affordable since you are charging 8x what other standard gyms charge for membership.
