My husband and I googled where to play pickleball while visiting Pismo Beach. Decided to play here and so glad we did. We were greeted by the most welcoming crew...Mickey (like in Mickey Mouse), Dani (can see Woodland from Placer), Laura (hope your ankle behaves), John (we will get them next time), and the lady with the very cool Nike pickleball shoes... sorry I didn't get your name but wish I did! Hope our paths cross in the future and thanks for making our day!

Excellent courts at Soto Park in Arroyo Grande. Home to a very active group who play regularly. As a visitor, I felt welcomed and was able to get a few competitive games in. The small park as a whole is active year round. Even has a dog park for them to socialize and exercise too!!

Great courts. But the locals are intense so give them their space.

Best courts in the 5-cities area that are open to the public, but unfortunately the city of Arroyo Grande officials are not keeping up with repairs. They are also not turning on the lights for nighttime play. Instead, they seem to only be focused on maintaining the pickle ball courts right next to the tennis courts. It’s a shame that these elected city officials are literally playing favorites, choosing to provide clean, well-lit courts for pickle ball players, and at the same time making tennis players feel like second-class citizens.

Nice Pickleball courts
Negative Reviews:
Ray & Angie Fuhrmann: ★
Tennis courts and bathrooms very dirty. Bird poop on all courts. Brooms are locked up we can't even sweep the courts ourselves. Out side grounds are not maintained.
Brandon West: ★
If I could give zero stars I would. Tried taking my 8 year old son to play pickleball st their league this morning ing and was told he cant participate due to his age and not being able to evaluate him. He plays daily at another facility and can easily beat some of these people playing today. Not a friendly group of people at all. Don't bother wasting ur money at a place like this. You guys should be more welcoming....not make assumptions...and should have let him play one game to prove he would have held his own.
Terri B.: ★
My friends were there playing (they are members) and we met there. Two of my friends were made to go home because there was no one there to take money and they had been there before. So they said if you can't pay you can't play. These are public park courts mind you, that are ran during certain hours by a club. Well we must have caught the members on a bad day. I read all the reviews about a welcoming atmosphere and how nice people were so was excited to go there. I didn't have a welcoming experience at all. Quite the opposite! The guy in charge yelled at us during the middle of a game and said, "Were you here yesterday because it's only one free visit?" We had never been there for club play before today, so yelled "No, we were in Avila yesterday." Couldn't he have waited to ask us until after our game? They also have a gold (winners), silver (losers) system. I had just come off and 3 were going out. I asked if they needed another player. They lady said sure and the guy I had beat earier that morning said, "No we have 4." There was no paddle in the silver rack. The lady said, "No we need one." He said, "No we don't and nevermind I just won't play." Talk about standing there feeling awkward. Then the lady said to the man, "Well you can play with her."(meaning me) and he said, "OK I will play." So he obviously didn't want to play against me, but was willing to play with me. So silly! The competition was not too solid. Around 3.0-3.5 at best, so it was hard to find good quality play. Not much dropping or dinking going on. Also, once they watch and realize you are a good player they won't go to you, so you get to just stand and watch your partner lose the game for you. Not a good experience at all! I will never ever go back there during club play!! I would rather go to Pismo Athletic Club and play the challenge court or Shell Beach were the competition is about the same as Arroyo Park Pickleball courts (but at least the people are welcoming, friendly, and it's free.) P.S. the courts are well maintained though!
