Best Tennis and Pickleball courts in La Quinta, Riverside County for 2026

Fritz Burns Park Tennis & Pickleball Courts in La Quinta, CA

4 tennis courts and 16 dedicated pickleball courts with lights and with shaded stadium seating in Fritz Burns Park in La Quinta, CA. Courts have hard surfaces and are free. Good pickleball but a lot of waiting. Good lighting for night games.

There are now 16 dedicated courts and a new parking lot to handle the immediate capacity. There are no paddle racks as the paddles are lined up along the fencing in any quantity of 1 to 4. So if you have a foursome that wants to play together, that is acceptable, or any combination is allowed.

In the event of an overnight rain, the courts are dried by 7 am the next morning.

Play starts at 7:30 am until approx 1:00 pm. Another group plays from 5 pm until 10 pm on the well lighted courts. When one court becomes empty upon completion of the game, the adjacent group moves over to fill the vacant court to allow a more orderly transition. Enjoyable venue and welcoming players! Highly recommended.

Too much pool parking. If all pool parking is used, pool will be way too crowded. Great pickleball area. 16 Courts. Restrooms: Clean, no soap, air dry only. Dog-friendliness: Very nice dog park.

Fritz Burns has what most parks don't: Tennis, pickleball, pool, play area, open field, close to mountain trails. It's a family favorite. Playground: Variable options for different ages. Restrooms: Open late, but safe and illuminated. Dog-friendliness: Specific area for dogs. Picnic area: Multiple tables spread throughout park.

Nicest public courts I’ve personally been to. I was only able to find one single person restroom for each gender. But other than that, such a fun park to be at for a pickleball tournament.

This is THE place to play pickleball in the desert. It's a welcoming and friendly group, with various levels of capable play. Courts across the desert sit under utilized for various reasons (too cliquey or a lack of competitive skill) but Fritz Burns is always a consistent go to IMO. I'll be back on my next visit for sure.

Melanie Peterson: ★★★★★
Visiting the area. Went to play pickleball. Very busy in the morning, well because it's the desert. Just line up your paddles and wait your turn. Covered observation stand so we stayed out of the hot sun while waiting. We are beginner players. We found another two people to play doubles with. One an expert, her partner a beginner. The players here are known to be polite and helpful. Great experience!

Scott Abajian: ★★★★★
A really nice park with lots of different activities. I was there for pickleball - eight lighted courts, four are for beginner-intermediate and four for intermediate advanced. People start showing up around 7am and by 8am most courts are full with people waiting to play. There are a large friendly group of players that show up in the mornings. Whatever your level the local players are very welcoming.

Courts a little worn. Pickleball courts nearby make you feel like you're playing tennis in a popcorn machine
Lucy Longwell: ★★★
Good pickleball but a lot of waiting. Only played 2 games in 2hr. In 3 days we saw 1 tennis court being used each day! Convert more into pickleball courts
Greg Semos: ★★★
This is a small park near downtown. Not a lot of shade but nice tennis and pickleball courts. The dog park is pretty weak, small poorly kept, of its ever cleaned I didn't see it. Three is a pool and play area with water spray, nice in the summer. The area is a little sketchy in the evening.
Erik Markel: ★★★
Ok park probably great for pickle or tennis but I would not call this a dog park

nigle amar: ★
Very commendable that extra pickleball courts were added. BUT it will all be a waste at the current situation stays in place. It was a better place to play when there were 8 courts divided between advanced and intermediate. I have been coming out for a month and fewer and fewer players are showing up because they are going to facilties where there is some organization!
Joe Richland: ★★
I only went for the dog park, which is small with little room to run, and few dogs. I understand the pickleball area is very good and well attended, unlike the dog park.
