Jesse Owens Park is home to one of two heated indoor pools in the South Los Angeles area. Just minutes away from LAX, Jesse Owens Park provides recreational activities including baseball, flag football, basketball, soccer, tennis and aqua aerobics. Jesse Owens Park is a big recreation complex with two large baseball fields, a pool building and next to it a basketball court. There are a few exercise facilities and a playground as well. The restrooms however were closed when I was there on a Sunday.

What a great clean family park. My preference is to exercise out doors. So I decided to start going to this park to work out. They have outdoor work out equipment . A few years ago I use to swim in this Olympic size pool. The water is always comfort. The park has a golf court, tennis court, basketball court, baseball field, indoor swimming pool and a recreation room. The have several play areas all through this large park. They offer all sirts of swim lesson from free to a very snall fee. There is always sheriff at this park making sure everything is safe and secure. Everyone at this park is pretty friendly, family oriented and pretty much regulars.

The new park after dark program at Jesse Owens park has been successful at curtailing violence in often abandoned parks in evening. Residents are taking back the public utility from criminals by enjoying the park in the evenings while taking advantage of the fair weather of the summer nights. This free event is family friendly and people of all ages and backgrounds will enjoy themselves with good food, music, games and even exercise. Kudos to the sponsors and organizers of this ongoing event. Way to keep it positive. I took stars away because the facilities of the park in decay and need to be updated. The bathroom is from 1940 and sanitation and cleanliness is an issue. The quality of the events and tournaments held here could certainly improve. The pool is hardly open to the public. The diving and swim instructors seem to lazily hang out around the pool with each other as opposed to really teaching the kids to be good swimmers and divers.
