Pilot Pickleball Hybrid Courts at Garvey Ranch Park

The City of Monterey Park has launched a new pilot program introducing a few temporary hybrid pickleball courts to see how well the setup works and to gather community feedback.

As a Pilot Program, temporary pickleball lines have been added to Court #2 for shared use. This initiative is designed to allow the community to enjoy pickleball and to help staff better understand how the courts are being used, as well as to identify any potential concerns.

The pilot program will allow the city to evaluate:

Frequency of court use, and any challenges that arise from shared use.
Any concerns as a result of the added pickleball courts.
Community feedback on whether the court should only be a tennis court or should be a hybrid court with the tennis and pickleball option.

The future of the Garvey Ranch Park hybrid courts will depend on community input. Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts and any impacts with the Recreation & Community Services Department by emailing recreation@montereypark.ca.gov or by phone at +1 626-307-1388.

Great small Park to just walk around and enjoy the scenery. There's a museum and a observatory that is open to the public. The playground and baseball field and basketball courts are really nice. Glad they added the fences for the basketball courts because the balls would fall down the hill. Good amount of dogs that walk around with their owners if you want to socialize your dog. Baseball field gets pretty packed with games starting from Junior league's to high school leagues. Parking can be a hassle since it's a limited amount and you may have to park on the streets. There is also tennis courts at the top of the hill that you can park as well. Some of the trails have a lot of weeds and can be difficult to go through sometimes but just follow the paved roads.
Danny Lu: ★★★★
Quiet and small park with a baseball field and also a newly renovated basketball court. The courts are great, with even ground but can often be crowded with many people playing. There is also a tennis court up the hill. Several kids playgrounds to play in and a small barbecue area for parties. However, the park definitely needs more lighting outside of the base field field.
