A spacious park where you can play ball, tennis or have a birthday party. The best days are on the weekend, where you meet people and maybe even play with each other. Places for barbecue and small playground. On the other side there are two basketball courts and a baseball field. As well as on the back side there are three tennis courts. In many weekends the park is reserved for festivals. The undesirable thing that in the recent months is the presence of many homeless, and some of them are sitting among the trees, which feels uncomfortable and unsafe. On the side of the park there is a share pikes and roadside parking.

Went here with my kid. They've fixed it up since the fire so the parks are cleaner and more welcoming. Tennis courts are always a nice get away on a warm day.

There is a section of this dog park for large dogs with a bit more space to run around. I take my dog here every weekend and he always plays with the tennis balls that get hit over the fence from the court. Just wish more dogs came here!

The Y.T.A. are doing an excellent job in the community with our kids! I love seeing the kids getting proffessional-grade instruction from formally ranked players and coaches with over 25 years of coaching experience! Give our kids the best chance at making a team and eventually going Pro! Thank you Youth Tennis Advantage, Inc!!!

This was my neighborhood park when I grew up. I can remember the giant airplanes that we used to play on in the front of the park. THEY still have the world-class basketball courts that were featured in many video games back in the day. You want to get some serious ballin' on? Try and hang with these brothers. They have a baseball field, tennis courts, and Rec Center. Mosswood Park still has it going on with lots of Rally's and festivals still held there today. FYI you get hurt you right across from Kaiser hospital

a review from @amom2kidsandapark Grab your swords and eye patches. This ship-inspired playground is perfect for your little swashbuckler. With open grass fields, two playgrounds, softball fields and basketball courts you’re sure to have a good time. The bigger playground, as mentioned is shaped like a ship! There are two slides (double and spiral), stairs, a ladder, pirate activities (I loved the treasure maze!), and crawl through holes. In this play area, there is a swing set with bucket and standard swings and a water spigot/water play feature(it was off). Most of this play area is sand but under the play structure and the bucket swings is the soft rubber. My kids like to take their shoes off in sandboxes but since this sand was more like small rocks with some small branches and leaves mixed in I tried to make sure their shoes stayed on (but if you check out the bottom corner of the second photo you’ll see some little shoeless footies…. She survived). The second w area is completely gated and designed more for younger kids/toddlers. The flooring is completely soft rubber. The structure is short and has steps, ladders, a bridge, two slides (double and sidewinder), and activities. Other fun elements of this gated play area include a climbing boulder, a spinning cup, a covered snacking bench, and community-given toys. There are benches and picnic tables inside the gate. There are no bathrooms and street parking could be tricky. Sometimes you’ll see “campers” at this park but they tend to stick to their people. The small incident we encountered was redirected by the camper's friend. That's what friends are for right? 😊

Small and dated, needs updating and cleaning.

Great multi-use park for sure. Decent location, picnic areas, tennis courts (in need of renovation), basketball courts heavily used, playground, dog walking, lots of green space/lawn areas but grass needs to be mowed, bathrooms need to be rebuilt (after a fire apparently). If you live in the neighborhood, or use frequently in general, contact Oakland Parks & Rec to tell them what you want or need!

Dog park, tennis courts, field, playground. Currently poorly maintained. A number of homeless encampments with no bathroom facilities raise public health concerns. This could be a nice park some day but now needs serious work.

We need to help this park survive. For example make all the lights on the tennis courts work. Lots of homeless settle their fine have them maintaining a community garden, also water can be generated from bill boards, use the one on the freeway.

Nice neighborhood park. There is a bunch g died/bowl area. Great for ball and catch. The small ampitheatre hosts concerts sometimes. There is tennis courts a baseball diamond and a playset.

This has been my neighborhood park for 20 years. There is a baseball diamond, tennis courts, two sets of swings and slides for two age groups, basket ball court and community gardens. This is a venue for events, has an outdoor theatre and hosts sport classes. There is an old Victorian and a community Center. Some of the trees are very old and large. It has been great for my two boys growing up except for two things. The minor problem is the homeless encampment. The major problem is a set of dog owners for whom the two dog runs are not enough so the annex the whole park. Eventually many parents abandoned the park because they did not want their kids competing with a large dog for a frisbee or playing in sand that was just used by a dog to deficate.

Basketball and tennis courts are in fairly good condition, but no restrooms and surroundings are full with trash and tents.
Fantasy Football Huddle: ★★★
Mosswood is the biggest park in the area and has promise but the homeless have taken over parts of the park. We need to provide more housing for them or services to get them help. They are left out in the cold and hurts my heart to see.
Negative Reviews:Yvonne: ★
Mosseood Park started going downhill in the 70's. It used yo be a nice park to take your family to. It started being a place for drug transactions and undesirable. Otherwise a nice Park with plenty shade trees.
Jade Burnett: ★
It used to be a nice park. The homeless took over years ago. They would set fires with gasoline next to the recreation center to keep warm and finally succeeded in burning the building to the ground. The basketball court is still there and a playground. From what I saw the dog park, tennis courts and grass were full of tents belonging to the homeless. The city is trying to rebuild but it is a far cry from what it used to be.

The park is run down, tennis courts in horrible condition, with multiple cracks and deformities. A huge amount of homeless encampments around the perimeter of the park. Lots of graffiti. The kids felt uncomfortable, and so did I.

Horrible , the city refuse to rebuild the recreation center, it is filthy , the best area is the basketball courts and the tennis area
A E: ★★
Way too many tents, trash piles. I can see some ppl enjoying the park, but I didn’t feel comfortable here with my dogs. Looks like the courts are popular, but the open in fenced grassy areas are NOT a dog run.
