Best Tennis and Pickleball courts in Palo Alto, Santa Clara County for 2026

Mitchell Park Pickleball Courts in Palo Alto

15 pickleball courts with lights in Mitchell Park in Palo Alto, California. Drop-in play is available seven days a week.

8 dedicated pickleball courts (2 courts as you enter by parking lot and 6 in the main area), rest are portable nets. Courts are closely spaced together. These temp courts will soon be converted to permanent.

There are two challenge courts all the way to the left side (at the far end) intended for beginner/intermediate players, but even those have pretty competent intermediate players. One is for advanced and one is for intermediate.

Challenge courts are win and stay, you leave after 3 wins. Challenge courts are good for finding players around your level and you can paddle down with them on other courts as well. All other courts are open play.

Courts are very busy in the mornings and early evenings. Early afternoons less so. Play happens all hours of the day, weekdays and weekends. Play level is competitive on most courts. Great mix of beginners to advance players. Mitchell Park is also home to the Palo Alto Pickleball Club.

Practice is to lay your paddle down to request to play or challenge. If there are fewer than 4 of you, then the winners stay to play. When courts are crowded there is a maximum playing time of 20 minutes. You can rotate back onto courts after that. Court closes at 10 pm.

Bathrooms are in the red barn after you cross the blue “magical bridge”. Restrooms are clean, smell good, and stay stocked. Water fountain around the corner of the courts. There is plenty of parking. Parking is in the back lot, or you can park on the street by the curb.

Fantastic court, so many courts, well lit, a million people at night. Great place to play!

De facto standard for SF Peninsula pickleball scene. There are 15 courts, closely spaced together. Very busy in the mornings and early evenings. Early afternoons less so. Lights for evenings. Play happens all hours of the day, weekdays and weekends. Play level is competitive on most courts; there is a section (at the far end) intended for beginner/intermediate players but let me tell you, even those have pretty competent intermediate players. But you can challenge yourself! Practice is to lay your paddle(s) down to request to play or challenge. If there are fewer than 4 of you, then the winners stay to play.

Mitchell is thee best community of pickleball players you will ever meet. Come play pickleball with us. Come a stranger, leave a friend.
Dan Clark: ★★★★
This review is actually for the 6 dedicated pickleball courts. Lights were recently changed from sodium vapor to LED, so all 6 courts can be used at night. A very warm and welcoming group of players, with a wide range of skills, so it's pretty easy to find your level. It can get crowded, tho'. Maybe someday we'll be able to turn the two tennis courts into 7 more dedicated PB courts.
yomi matsuoka: ★★★★★
The friendliest Pickleball park in the south bay. Ample parking
Ray Tang: ★★★★★

I play pickleball here. Six permanent courts with another 8 or so, converted tennis courts with temporary nets. These temp courts will be converted soon to permanent. Great group of people, all different levels of play.
Marcela Ma: ★★★★★
This park is so big and it got another park inside called magic bridge and a library. The park has a bbq area , tennis court, pickle ball, a water area for hot days a huge grass area, dog park and so on 3 playgrounds one of them is near the pickle ball area and magical. Ridge is all the way in the back of the park passing the tennis court
Adwait Sahasrabhojanee: ★★★★★
Mitchell Park is an underrated gem. You'd think a random park in suburban hell couldn't be that interesting, but this place is in fact a wonderland of sounds, sights, and experiences. At Mitchell Park I have seen battles being fought, I have seen planets colliding, and I have seen Will-O-Wisps beckon you into the depths of the forest. All to the sounds of pickleball, the eternal sport that THRIVES in Mitchell Park. Part of the best day of my entire life was spent at Mitchell Park. A day I will never forget, an experience that will always stay with me. Mitchell Park is a glorious, majestic beacon of life, excitement, and beauty. If you visit, you will leave with a renewed sense of appreciation and gratefulness for people, the universe, and your own life. If you're looking for something to do on a random Sunday afternoon, spend it here, in the best park in the entire universe.
Andy: ★★★★
Very nice park. It has pickleball, tennis, play structures, and many other things. The restrooms are not very clean.
Michael Chang: ★★★★★
Good place to visit, lots of small animals, also lots of pickle ball courts!
Shiv Kapur: ★★★★★
Multiple high quality pickleball courts with good lighting.
Josh Kennedy: ★★★★
This park has TONS of amenities but is a little overcrowded. For example, My friends and I play tons of pickleball but it’s almost impossible to get a court here. Also, the dog park is nice and usually has lots of dogs, but sometimes the dogs are the ones taken on walks by rovers and not watched closely. So if you are worried about your dog getting into some sort of trouble, that might happen.
Jared Canizales: ★★★★★
I come here regularly to play pickleball. They have lots of well-lit courts in great shape and a good queuing system set up. Folks are generally courteous, and you can get some games in even when it’s busy.
Tony Wang: ★★★★★
Absolutely beautiful park that has the most pickleball courts in the area.
Krena Solheim: ★★★★★
Nice pickle ball courts and playground for all, even adults!
Sharmili Roy: ★★★★★
Nice place and good people around to play pickle ball .. definitely will go again
Bhaasita Desiraju: ★★★★★
Love the pickleball courts here! They are very well maintained.
Jeff Bazan: ★★★★★
Huge, spacious park... great playground, tennis/pickleball courts, also has 3-wall racquetball courts!!! See folks playing pick up soccer, family volleyball, etc.
Scott Christ: ★★★★★
Pickleball! There’s more courts in the back by the playground. Be prepared to wait a bit but worth the experience. Not for your first time but a place to harness skills the second and third time. Playground is gigantic, bringing the kiddo later.
Mars Bau: ★★★★
It's a great space for sports. Lots of people play volleyball and there are tennis and pickle ball courts as well as soccer fields. There's lots of picnic areas as well, which are first come first serve although you can reserve them. The grass is usually a little thin and sparse but that's to be expected with California weather. There are 3 playgrounds which are really quite nice, especially Magical Bridge which is new. The Mitchell park library is also very close which has Ada's cafe in front of it. Mitchell is connected to the JLS fields which are closed during school hours, but otherwise it's a very large park, perfect for family gathering and parties.
Rudy P H A T: ★★★★★
Had an AA BBQ here. There was a lot of activities going on from baseball games to soccer practice, pickle ball, tennis and N awesome playground. Also with a dog park and cafe there
Eric Li: ★★★★★
Really great park with lots of pickle ball courts. A wonderful playground too for kids to play in. There are four tennis courts and four pickle ball courts. The tennis courts can be converted to pickle ball courts by dragging nets out from the storage area. Currently you can play doubles pickle ball if your team mate is under the same room but it doesn’t seem rigorously enforced.
AJ: ★★★★★
This park has tennis courts, two pickleball courts, four handball courts, open spaces, a baseball diamond, restrooms, plenty of free parking, two playgrounds, and right next to the tennis area, a library that has a cafe in it. One of their parks is called Magical Bridges and is an all enclosed, clean, fun park for children from ages about 2- 7 to play in.
Jamie Cheung: ★★★★★
Mitchell Park is a large neighbourhood leisure area with facilities catering to all ages and most interests. The park features tennis courts and pickleball courts, as well as a field for other sporting activities. There is also a sizeable playground with artwork scattered across the park. Besides, the park is located directly adjacent to a library and a middle school athletic field.
Tony Huang: ★★★★★
The magic bridge playground is impressive. Very big and have unique structures. Similar to the playground in Chicago’s Park by the Art Institute. Lots of tennis counts and pickle ball courts. I had no idea pickle balls are so popular, no kidding. Also connect to the library’s parking lot.
Scott: ★★★★★
Huge, amazing park with so much to do. Magic Bridge Playground for little ones, pickleball for big ones. And everything in between. Tons of room to play and park. Parking can be busy but there are constantly people leaving so just wait a few minutes.
Parth Chandak: ★★★★★
Great park with a lot of pickleball courts. People are really nice and fun to play with. Highly recommend! Pickleball is so much fun. Definitely check it out, it's the most amount of courts I have seen in the bay area.
D Gman: ★★★★★
Great place for pickleball. Great mix of beginners to advance players. Permanent nets on 8 courts (2 courts as you enter by parking lot and 6 in the main area), rest are portable nets.
Robert Rothrock: ★★★★★
A fantastic place to play Pickleball! Plenty of courts, wide spectrum of players, diverse community. If your a family the playground is top notch, and the library (with café) can't be beat. Overall a great park.
Caroline Chow: ★★★★★
Many pickleball courts although only 6 are lit. There's a social group that plays and seems very active. We played on the two unlit courts that were alright but would be better if lit. Overall a nice park with lots of amenities.
Robert Newlander: ★★★★★
Very complete park, even "old-scgool" handball 3-walled courts. About 14 pickleball courts, w/ 2 nearer to the restrooms . . . The park should have toilets on the Southside of the park, near the Kid's playground.
DutchTraveller: ★★★★★
Great place to play pickleball or to do tennis and have a cup of coffee. For the smaller kid there is in great playgrounds bridge playgrounds that is very much in favor by all the parents. Go and check it out enjoy
Yuan: ★★★★★
Best public Pickleball spot in the South Bay. 14 total courts, clean, friendly competition, has lights, closes 10
Santosh Gaikwad: ★★★★★
Pickle ball courts... Plenty of courts, all levels welcome... Lighted courts... Great fun experience
Chiucat / Angel: ★★★★★
THE destination for pickleball on the Peninsula. Courts are tightly packed, but lively action everywhere. "Beginner" courts near one end still full in good intermediate players, but the attitude there is fun, not winning. Other courts more competitive. Pretty awes9mentobhave this flagship public pickleball courts availability. Players here are well connected: people come from up the Peninsula all the way down to San Jose.
Alex Woo: ★★★★★
Probably the busiest park in Palo Alto with a Middle School, two private schools, the Magic Bridge playground, the largest library branch and community center, a little league park and private school. It has soccer fields, a circular performance area, water play, picnic areas, tennis and pickleball courts, etc. Unfortunately , it also has homeless.
David Reynolds (Dave): ★★★★★
Lots of great places for kids to have fun playing on magic bridge area or sports fields and many avid pickleball players. Next door to the library too!
Chris Bulone: ★★★★★
This park is amazing. Best play facilities. Fun pickleball. More competitive players than other pickleball courts, or just maybe weekend has younger crowd.

Love Mitchell Park! Played some pickleball with a friend on New Year's Eve from 7-10 PM. We were like the only ones there, it was lit up (so we felt very safe). We would definitely come back again! Love this park!

The pickleball courts are not beginners friendly…
Jerry Morrison: ★★★
Have to avoid the entire park during the extremely LOUD Zumba exercise class at 10am on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Otherwise very nice. Two restroom buildings. Large grass areas. Picnic areas with BBQ grills. Play structures. Tennis and pickleball courts. Dog park. Lots of parking.
Al Lam: ★★★
This is a good size park with multiple uses. Parking could be a problem. But it has tennis courts, soccer, baseball, pickleball, Tai Chi area, etc...couple of bathrooms...this place has good facilities. Good for kids!!
Negative Reviews:
Jim Halpert: ★★
The pickleball atmosphere is not always friendly, especially from the older men. Some of the players will (not so politely) tell you to go somewhere else if they find your skill level too low. I've heard one person shouting loudly at another person that they already have four players, even though the second person had priority to go onto the court next. I've also heard some heated arguments that were plain petty. For example, one gentleman complained that the people putting their paddles touching the leg of the net had no understanding of basic physics because it affected the stability of the net. I wish I could say it was rare, but almost every time I've gone, there is at least one instance of unfriendly behavior.
