Best Tennis and Pickleball courts in Placentia, Orange County

Tuffree Hill Park Tennis and Pickleball Courts

1 tennis court, 4 dedicated pickleball courts with lights in Tuffree Hill Park in Placentia, California. Courts are new and well maintained. Some shade from trees on the tennis court. Busy from 8:00 am through 12:00 and 4:00 pm to closing everyday. There is no divider between tennis and pickleball courts, and they are somewhat close to one another. Pickleball players can sometimes overwhelm the courts. Not very welcoming for new coming tennis and pickleball players.

Pickleball Challenge Courts

Pickleball Court #1

How it works:

  • Winners of the game stay on the court and play challengers.
  • MAXIMUM of 3 straight wins. After a 3rd win, all 4 players are off & the next 4 players are on.
(This rule shall only apply when NO courts are empty)
  • If only 2 paddies are waiting, all 4 players are off and the winners of the last game have paddle priority. Therefore wining team can choose to play the challengers or allow the losing team to play.
  • Challengers pick their side.
  • When a winning team and a losing team both leave the court, the winning team has priority placement
    at the paddle rack.
  • When Court 1 paddle racks is FULL, gameplay shall be 4 up 4 down until no longer full.

Pickleball Court #2

How it works:

  • Place your paddle in the paddle rack that corresponds with the court number you would like to play on. When the current game finishes, all 4 players will come off of the court and the next 4 players will go on.
  • If less than 4 players are waiting for a given court, then previous players may stay on the court to provide a total of 4 players. Winners of the previous game have priority on who will stay, however if only 1 is needed then the winners will have to decide who stays on.
    Groups:
  • If you would like to keep a group together to play together, feel free to skip enough spaces on the rack to make sure that your group can play in a game together. Others will fill in the gaps between the next group and your group.
    Warm Up:
  • Please keep warm ups to no more than 3 min. A placeholder may be used in lieu of your paddle in the rack to allow for off court warm ups while you wait.

Pickleball Court Rules

  • No more than 1 paddle per person may be up at a time in any of the paddle racks.
  • Courts are prioritized for gameplay.
  • Please refrain from blocking a court for drilling unless empty courts exist.
  • If courts fill up, please limit drilling time to a 10 min block and then free up the court for the next game.

Great for pickleball will return soon.

Came here on an afternoon to play pickleball for the first time as a visitor. It’s only my 3nd time playing so I was a little nervous. People are inviting & encouraging. Got invited to join other solo players to play as a group with other teams. People of all skills play here. Just be forewarned — use the bathroom before u come because the bathrooms across the park may not be opened. Weekday mornings are for the experienced & more aggressive players. If u are a novice like come, come on a weekday afternoon. It was a great time

This small obscure park is known for team sports on the fields, as well as team and individual play of tennis, pickleball and handball on the courts. The Gym rec center has a basketball court inside and is open on select days. Outside access is provided for the restrooms. Also, there’s a some picnic tables for only a few people to sit and eat at. Parking is available via Tuffree Blvd. , just north of Bastanchury Rd. or thru Tri-Cities Park, at the lower south ‘lot.

Came here specifically the tennis courts but I sort of had to make the trek from Tri-City to Tuffree Hill Park because I had no clue where I was going. This park has alot for being a park in the shadow of Tri-City. Tri-City is more of a park if you want to walk around a lake, barbecue, or biking. Tuffree has a field for recreational activities, a basketball court, a baseball diamond for little league, tennis courts, and an area for handball and racquetball. However, this park is a little run-down and the building that sits in the park looks a little haunted, but hey, thats character.

Great little park with a couple baseball fields, tennis courts, and a playground that's in pretty good shape for the little ones.

Nice tennis
Gabby: ★★★★★
Wonderful, free park. two tennis courts, a kids playground and kids baseball diamond. a dirt area to run laps and plenty of open space. parking can be limited during games and practices. Only annoying thing can be people who aren't playing tennis on the courts just doing non tennis things. They have a rule board and its awkward to ask them to clear out. I'm talking to you girl who was filming herself practicing random trick soccer moves, go on to the field please.
Alvaro Martinez: ★★★★★
Has four nice pickleball cards lights at night organized play, busy from 8:00 through 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. to closing everyday

This park is great for walks with or without a dog. A large pond with a smooth pathway. Great for exercise. 3 different entries but one is kind of secluded. Need to be careful as I find it a little secluded for me. There is an open restroom near the tennis courts and baseball field. Not many people come to that side.

We love walking at Tri city park. Lots of parking and easy to get in and out. There can be a lot of goose poop however so just watch where your walking in some areas. There is lots of open grass, some tables and a bathroom. There is a playground as well. The park trail around the water is flat and accessible
Ian Browne: ★★★★
Parking is a little tight if there are any events going on. Plan to walk a The path around the lake is nice, and the playground is in good shape. Plenty of open space for things like catch, frisbee, etc.
Warren Hoo: ★★★★★
It's really a nice park with nice wide walkways. The Ducks in the pond are entertaining and come when on the side of the banks there are people with food to feed them. There are people fishing. The pathways are wide enough that a group of cyclists came by and didn't bother those who are just walking for exercise. It's a very peaceful setting the entry to The Rolling Hills parking lot closes at 6 p.m. Cars already parked in the lot can still exit until the park closes at 9 pm. It's a great place to bring kids and family just to sit and relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city life

One of two courts have been taken over by pickleball. The pickleball players are constantly crowding the only tennis court left. They are very inconsiderate.
Negative Reviews:
Sharlina Keshava: ★★
Pickle ball players are rude and do not follow court rules. People ride their bicycles, skate boards, and scooters on the courts. Pickle ball players stand around in groups and setup chairs, and their children play in the alley on the tennis courts. They will even start warming up or hitting the pickle ball behind the tennis baseline while a tennis match is in play. These are all safety hazards, tennis players beware. However, the courts are in good condition. ⭐ ⭐

Pickle ball players set their stuff up on the tennis side, which is not allowed. Please follow the posted rules so that everyone can enjoy the facilities. They treat the tennis side like its a park sparawling blankets and lawn chairs. Do that somewhere else.

More tennis courts taken over by pickleball.

Hello: The pickleball players here are outright hostile towards tennis players. We were playing tennis before the pickleball evening crowd showed up and when the crowd showed up they stood inside the lines of our court talking to each other and acted as if they didn’t know. Signs that says don’t stand on the tennis side were clearly ignored as they setup chairs and groups talking there. There were additional pickleball nets on the other side of the tennis courts which they wheel out after they drive out the tennis players. I echo a lot of the other reviews stating disrespectful pickleball players and they just look at you nasty for playing tennis on a tennis court there. We were careful not to hit anyone and didn’t, but felt pressured to leave and people looked at us as if “why are you playing tennis on a tennis court”. If you’re one of those pickleball people reading this shame on you.

Pickle ball courts are adjacent and I must say, they are loud, stand on the tennis courts while waiting for their pickle ball court, set up their stuff all over the fence on the tennis side. Learn to read the signs that say don't wait there. ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE TENNIS LESSONS GOING ON. I'm talking like 30 people deep while parents are trying to watch their kids. Nobody should be on the courts while games and practices are happening.

I was playing tennis here a couple weeks ago when an elderly pickleball player set his chair up on our side of the court. We continued to play; trying our best not to hit him. After a few rallies we lost control of the ball and it went flying in his direction. The ball barely hit him, but the elderly man angrily turned around and called me a “son of a b🤬" along with other swears. With my sister on the verge of tears we stood there in utter shock as we watched him walk off the court with his belongings. After this experience I will definitely never be playing here again.

Absolutely toxic professional amateur gang of pickleball players. Went with my son at 8am, first time visit and wanted to introduce him to the sport and practice. There's 4 courts. Got the last court. Thinking it's a public park court and not an HOA/private court figured it'd be okay to take my young son. I guess I was wrong. I was harassed the whole 30 mins I was there to get off the court, when I was there first (repeatedly, by multiple members of their pickleball "community" gang). My son and I were kicked off the full court and had to play half court. And I was threatened physically by a guy who wanted to force us off the court (who already had a court no less) because it is popular courts and they have their professional amateurs there wanting to play amateur competitive games. Made my son hate the first trip and our first experience with the "pickleball community". He never wants to return, and frankly neither do I. The courts are a public resource, and the city posted no specific rules we have to follow, if the city decided to put in a time limit while others are waiting for a court, fine, but there is no such rule, and with my young son were continually harassed and physically threatened. Not okay. While introducing my son to the sport he shouldn't be forced into joining their competitive games or rotating in or whatever they think they run there. Really disgusting toxic community, hope it isn't representative of pickleball players everywhere.

Only putting two stars because as an avid, long-time tennis player, I loved these courts. I've been coming here since I was a teenager and while it was already difficult enough with only two tennis courts, it became increasingly more difficult to now be reduced to just one court. With the addition of these new pickle ball courts, it has become an even worse issue. Not only do the players set up their stuff on the TENNIS SIDE OF THE COURT, they are loud, disruptive and constantly knocking their balls into the tennis court. A tall fence needs to divide the sides and keep the pickle ball on their side of the fence and let tennis have their side. When these grown men set up their chairs and gear on the TENNIS SIDE, it makes it a safety hazard to not only themselves, but the tennis players trying to run for the balls if needed. Please do something about this. Tennis was there first!
Luis Jasso: ★
Pickleball players set their stuff like chairs and blankets on the tennis side. The posted rules say that there can be no people doing that on the court, even if there are no tennis players playing on the court. Please follow the posted rules. Its mainly a bunch of elderly people who do not listen to the posted rules.
