Best Tennis and Pickleball courts in San Carlos, San Mateo County for 2026

Tennis Courts Highlands Park in San Carlos

Summary / Description

5 tennis courts, 4 pickleball courts. Decent courts with lights. Mixed use tennis/pickleball courts. Gets quite busy so better get here early if you're looking to play in the morning or at night. Lots of courts, as long as pickleball doesn't take over. There are lights for playing past sundown. Some tree debris falls down. The fences are fairly high so balls don't sail out often, and when they do, there's a low risk of them going out into traffic, so it's easy to retrieve them. Surface is decent (but some courts have cracks that can affect ball bounce) and lighting is only average (some areas not well lit; lights are not between every set of courts.), Courts are also close together, and not all courts have separations between them. Balls can easily go from one court to another. Usually lots of parking but can get busy. Softball field is there too.

Lots of courts, as long as pickleball doesn't take over. There are lights for playing past sundown. Sometimes it's easy to find a broom to clean up the court since a lot of tree debris falls down. The fences are fairly high so balls don't sail out often, and when they do, there's a low risk of them going out into traffic, so it's easy to retrieve them.

Nice tennis courts in the hills of San Carlos. Can get busy when weather is good. There are 5 courts. Busy astroturf field for soccer and baseball. Little kiddie park as well.

Update August 2024: still my go to for early morning tennis! Burton Park is better if conditions are wet though. Update July 2023: still great for tennis, though there are two mixed use tennis /Pickleball courts now. Get here early if you want to play tennis! -- Just resurfaced mid-2022! 5 courts. Gets quite busy so better get here early if you're looking to play in morning or at night.

5 Okay courts with okay lights. Surface is decent (but some courts have cracks that can affect ball bounce) and lighting is only average (some areas not well lit; lights are not between every set of courts.) Courts are also close together, and not all courts have separations between them. Balls can easily go from one court to another. Parking lot adjacent, but was busy when I went as a softball field is there too.
