Great park for parties, taking your dogs for a walk (poop bags provided at 2 locations), or take your kiddos to play on the playground. Bathrooms and drinking fountains on site, small parking lot, public tennis courts across the street, and a row of decorative head stones from some of the original San Diego residents.

This is a small but beautiful park in Mission Hills. My church, Mission Hills, United Church of Christ, has an annual church in the park followed by a community pot luck. All are welcome. Across the street are two public tennis courts I use often. You can also use Pioneer Park's exercise areas to create your personal fitness program. You can walk along the park playground or cross the street and enjoy the many available trails of Mission Hills. One last note: there are headstones on the park grounds. This was once a cemetery.

Great park, but always under construction. Would love lights at the Tennis courts

It’s a nice open park with a great breeze from the ocean and the hills. We found two play structures for ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12 years old, swings and a lot of space for running and relaxing. Right across the street there’s an open tennis court. It’s ok to bring your dog but with a liege.

Interesting Place to go And just see for yourself the scene. It's half a cementery , or it used to be one, like one hundred years ago...im not sure about the dates, you knowb. I forget about it , sometimes, lol..anyway the park is cool. There's also a tennis court near by that its very nice.
Michael Donovan: ★★★★★
Mostly quiet neighborhood park. Limited parking but mostly used by neighborhood folks. Open green space, tennis courts, trees and a clean restroom.

Nice wide open and spacious park. Would be a great spot for a picnic or run. The groms love the playground and all the equipment seems to be upkept. Definitely one of the safer parks in the area. There is also a tennis court across the street if that's your thing.

A quintessential neighborhood park. Up the hill with a distant view of the bay. It is a adjacent to a school with a playground. A good sized field and great space to gather with people. At the corner of the park is are some headstone dating to the early 1900's. It is nice to find free street parking. Across the street are tennis courts and a half mile nature trail.

Took a walk here after brunch on Washington St. but I had been here for a couple other events. I hadn't realized that it's actually a cemetery of early inhabitants of San Diego, dating back to the 1800s. The headstones were moved to make a it usable as a park. I came for my friend's barbecue and was surprised that alcohol consumption is actually allowed here! There is a parking lot and plenty of street parking too, a playground for kids and tennis courts across the street. I'd love to picnic here again when the weather warms up.

Came here for a Saturday morning meeting and potluck. There was only a handful of benches and we snagged one. It was directly in the sun which sucked but better than sitting on the grass. These old knees of mine might go down but who knows if I'll get back up! As we were clearing out around 12pm, more and more people were popping up with their tents or lawn chairs and picnic items. There's a cemetery on the premises with souls resting from the 1800s. You can also see the water peering in between the trees. Parking is a breeze. Street parking is plentiful although there is a parking lot here as well. You can find a little bit of everything here. Tennis courts, children's playground, big open grassy areas, restrooms etc. They say you can have weddings here if it's under 300 people but I'm not sure about that. It's a pretty simple location but there's beauty in that. Dog friendly place as well.
