A Great location where we went for a touching memorial honoring the wonderful family friend ! Sad reason honoring a wonderful person who I and my Great family of four brothers had the delight of knowing and interacting socially. Heartfelt experience 💕 I had the Joy of going with my husband Scot Terry and my mother Jean and step father Alex.
Chris Segura: ★★★★★
I visited this location for the Battle in the Bay classic a college tennis tournament. The site staff was wonderful to work with, the kitchen staff was amazing, and the members were very hospitable in welcoming this great event into their private club. If you are looking for a tennis club in San Francisco this one is awesome and with lots of neat history.

Amazing posh courts. Luckily a guy on my tennis team is a coach here, Juanjo P. and I was able to play with great evening lights that don't affect my Lasik light halo sensitive eyes when playing evenings!

A few years ago the tennis club added and changed their lighting to LED. It’s been a nightmare for the community, the lumens far exceed anything else in the vicinity. They state they have class 1 LED, which is 450 lux for professional courts (meant for Wimbledon or other broadcast arenas). Recreational and Residential is Class 3 at 250 lux. They are twice brighter than required standards. I spoke with the owner who agreed to redirect the lights or add barn doors to keep the light contained the the court. Living several blocks away, this affects hundreds of people to serve the 0-6 people playing at night. I understand it’s an institution, but it’s disruptive to the community it claims to serve. Since we spoke there has been no change. I have to keep my windows closed at night, it’s really awful.

tl;dr: I couldn't even get through the front door metaphorically. The membership process is opaque, outdated, and unresponsive. Frustrating experience for someone eager to join and play. I recently relocated to San Francisco and was actively looking to join a tennis club before the move. This place initially seemed like a strong contender—it has historical charm, a good location, and presumably an established tennis culture. Unfortunately, every attempt to get real information about membership hit a dead end. The website is dated and offers little clarity. I reached out via email with several specific questions, but never received a response. Phone calls get routed to the membership department, but the person in charge is frequently "out" with no clear backup or process for follow-ups. It left me with the impression that they’re either not interested in welcoming new members or not organized enough to do so. It’s disappointing because I was motivated to find a community where I could take lessons and keep up with my tennis practice. If the current culture is to leave potential members in the dark, then it’s hard to imagine how the club will thrive once longtime members move on.

As a visitor, player and appassionate of tennis, they didn't even let me walk inside the club because I wasn't a member. After that for sure I won't be. I was just curios to see the courts and the club. Very bad hospitality.
