Cataldi Park Tennis and Pickleball Courts in San Jose, California

8 tennis courts with a hitting wall, 4 new dedicated pickleball courts in Cataldi Park in San Jose, California. All free for the public. No lights. It is not too busy on weekdays. Tennis courts on the weekends are busy in the morning up until noon, then it opens up. Enough of parking lot space. Decent courts, but the locals are very territorial and instructors take over multiple courts for hours at a time on any given day. The tennis court courses here are lively, and many children are playing seriously. There is a parking lot and roadside parking for easy parking. The entire park is shaded by trees, so you can enjoy the sun or the shade without being exposed to the sun, and the cool breeze. Restrooms are clean.

One of our go to parks for some quick playground time, with plenty of parking and decently maintained playgrounds. The playground on the West end of the park has plenty of shade. The pickleball courts are always lively and it has really improved the overall energy of the park. The park is very large and has many paths that are great for walking. On busy days, like the weekends, the parking lot can get quite full but we have not had any issues finding parking on the street if needed. The park does have restrooms but they do get quite dirty. Playground: Multiple playgrounds for all age groups. Restrooms: Functional but can be quite dirty. Picnic area: Lots of picnic areas and seating, larger spaces are reservable.
Vijeth R: ★★★★★
Nice and huge Park to walk, play tennis and pickleball
K Itson: ★★★★★
The old neighborhood park. Playgrounds tennis courts and basketball hoops and bbq pits. Now starting to see food trucks and vendors. People have big parties here and play pickleball. Playground: Multiple playgrounds including rock walls and fitness stuff as well as equipment for young children and disabled. Restrooms: Clean and working restrooms. Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly (please clean up after). Picnic area: Multiple picnic areas both near the front and further in

Noob friendly level pickleball courts, no wind guard

Great park to hangout and enjoy. Tennis courts are open to public and first come first serve. There are people who uses it to teach or take lessons which is not fair for local people.
Maria C.: ★★★★
A few things I check for when going to a park. I usually go with my grandkids so safety is a must. Clean bathrooms, and if the playground structures up to date and safe. Is surrounding areas well maintained? I like this park because it has everything I look for. The playground structures is according to age group. Walking trails, plus a good size area for the kids to ride bikes or use there scooters. Some spots have a water fountains. What’s unique about this park it has an exercise equipment outside. Basketball and tennis courts. Large areas to have picnic with a big group. Grill stations with tables close by. Because it’s usually busy during the weekend. You’ll have to park on the streets. I’ve come here quite often and my grandkids was tired and content. Yeah! for grandma 👵🏽

This where I grew up... Have always felt safe here and always arrived to clean playgrounds, workout stations, handball, basketball, and tennis courts.. The restrooms for the most part stay clean, but sometimes have found nasty. I can honestly say I have come at night.. to chill smoke, whatever.. By myself.. And have never felt frightened or in danger.. And I've had to sleep in my car over here a couple times I ain't gonna lie.. Sometimes it be that way but I am so comfortable that I came to sleep here... Yeah I know closed at sunset..sshh...but I be feeling I can do that cuz it's my hood lol.. But nonetheless this will always be my stomping grounds..🤗 so many memories have been made here
Santosh Patil: ★★★★
Very nice park for family . Lots of tennis courts and open spaces.
Nidhi Bansal: ★★★★
Huge bunch of tennis courts . Nice park . And a good play structure.
Cassie K: ★★★★★
This is a very nice park. Bigger than many, with two play structures, picnic tables, plenty of benches, tennis courts, and plenty of shaded grass. It was perfect for my sister and I to have a socially distant picnic. It wasn't too crowded on a summer weekday, but there were enough other people to feel like you were actually in the outside world. We only checked out the area near the parking lot, but there was plenty more park to be had. Also has bathrooms!
Glad Ami: ★★★★★
This park is huge. It has a swings, playgrounds, and tennis court for tennis lovers. Plenty of room to have your parties there. Plenty of room to also play sports i.e. volleyball, soccer, or just play catch with your kids or friends. Plenty of parking as well. Bathroom is clean not too much thrash everywhere. Overall I highly recommend this park for any party.
Eric Lee: ★★★★★
Two play structures, picnic areas, tennis courts, TONS of open field area, this park is great for taking the kids and playing. We have been coming here every week for the kids love soccer classes and it's been a blast. After the soccer, my kids play on the structure and there's enough room for them to have a safe distance. I can see having parties here as well.
Blanca Pelayo: ★★★★
This is a pretty large and well maintained neighborhood park. Google maps will take you to the main parking lot by the tennis courts, kids playground and restroom but there's a whole other side with exercise equipment. There's plenty of parking on the streets, several picnic tables, lots of shade only downsize is there's only ONE set of restrooms therefore you have to walk a few minutes to get to it if you were using the exercise equipment overall very nice
Nirmit Patel: ★★★★
Big park with lot of open area, kids play area too. Tennis courts are plenty but old. Some of them needs serious repairs. I wish they had lights on the courts, it could be usable till the park closing time. Playground: Good play area for kids. Dog-friendliness: dogs have open ground to roam around
Chris H: ★★★★★
This park is not that big but very beautiful, versatile and well organized one. Many people can enjoy even team sports such as football, volley ball, etc, on the well maintained grass field, very good for the family event with bbq, very cozy place to just walk around for daily exercise, safe and nice playground for children, basketball court, super nice tennis court etc etc. This park is the best one near me and they just finished renovation too although it was already pretty good ! :)
Tarun Saxena: ★★★★★
It is decent place to go with your family. Towards yhe main road there are lawn tennis courts, children play area and barbecue grills. Toward back, a huge grass lawn and a smaller play area and lawn tennis practice wall. There is no pond or water body though. Overall a good place to spend an evening.
Leon Ransom: ★★★★
I enjoyed my visit here. Lots of room and plenty of tennis courts. The fence is probably not as high as I'd like it to be however do not let that deter you from visiting. Restrooms open(in today's climate?). Families having a meal, lots of help retrieving tennis balls. Trees, lots of green grass. I will be back Cataldi.
Andrew Hunter: ★★★★★
Nice open fields, tennis courts, lots of parking, and easily accessible, Cataldi is a very welcoming park. Playgrounds exist, but should not be used during the current CoViD-19 situation. Great place to sit for a picnic, play with R/C toys, and play sports.
Daniel Luu: ★★★★
Take my kids after school to play on the swings and playground on weekdays. Several activities going on throughout the day. Early morning, you can join the old Asian folks with "Tai Chi"/dance group. On weekends, the Tennis courts gets crowded quickly, might need to come early if you want good court, kids tennis lessons and toddlers soccer games on vast open green belt. During warm weather, many families came out to claim cool spots for picnics. Very nice friendly park, love it. Oh don't forget to bring change for the ice cream truck comes around daily.
Bern C: ★★★★★
Cataldi park is an versatile park for all ages. You can come at any time of the day and be gauranteed that you will have a good time. They have the tennis court, shady grass lawns for an occasional ball game, several picnic areas, an nice pathway for biking, and also an extensive trail for walking or exercising. My child literally grew up on this park and it brings many happy memories to me.
Douglas Cajias: ★★★★
Has a little bit of everything locally, including a nice walk path that winds through the park that includes picnic spots, kids' playground, tennis courts, handball walls, and plenty of space to accommodate soccer, volley balls nets, yoga classes, with water fountains, and exercise stations.
Sunil Agarwal: ★★★★
It is a big place with a lot of slides, swings etc for children of all ages and even an exercise corner for adults. Also has tennis courts, parking and barbeque spots with benches and tables but these need to be reserved in advance. A lot of greenery and trees and from the front it doesn't look that big but if you keep walking it just keeps looking bigger and bigger.
Edward Johnson: ★★★★★
The the park known as Cataldi Park. Nice picnicking, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, exercise equipment. Several restrooms, lots of parking. around the park. For every red star there is a Black Star. The red stars represent the niceness of the park the black stars represent the trash and garbage and stuff left laying around in the gutters in the street in the grass. Similar to every Costco you visit in Silicon Valley. The shopping carts are left everywhere in the parking lot. The people that come there, just can't return one up to the store. Those same people are the folks that think that the drought and don't conserve water.
Steve Zamek: ★★★★★
Nice park with a very long stretch of grass including tennis courts, basketball, calisthenics workout area and 2 play grounds for kids. One loop around the park is 1 mile long.
Abhishek kulkarni: ★★★★
It's a beautiful and we'll maintained park with tennis courts , play area. The neighborhood is safe. If you want to take stroll do visit this park.
phil wall: ★★★★
Public tennis courts! Courts play fast, have cracks, but are in decent shape. The zigzag/staggered layout with no barriers makes balls rolling in from other games a challenge, but you'll get to meet everyone else playing around you. Very busy early, so try lunch time for a court.
Sophie Che: ★★★★
A large park with two playgrounds (one is under construction now and may be reopen by the end of 2016), tennis courts, and a half basketball court. It is good for walking dogs, jogging, biking with kids, etc.

This review is only for the tennis courts at cataldi park. They have 10 odd courts which are all in good shape. These courts are usually busy and I have never seen more than a couple if them vacant whenever I have been there. The courts are laod out in a innovative way thats difficult to explajn but the design leads to less disturbance from neighboring courts.
bruce chia: ★★★★★

Great little Park. Easy access to/from SR680, an easy access to residents. Has great walking path along its length. Tennis courts. Public restrooms. The only draw back is has too few bbq areas that are quickly taken up.
Ipsita Was Here: ★★★
Its a nice place for evening walk. Also, have many different sports courts. But not a clean or maintained place. Playground: 10 courts for tennis. But not cleaned and the ground have a lot of cracks. Also have basketball and volleyball courts. Picnic area: Large area for picnic but not maintained. Plants and grasses are not groomed.
Chirag Mehta: ★★★
It has 7 tennis courts but very busy place
Dori: ★★★
This is a nice park but they don’t take good care of it. There are ground squirrels everywhere so be careful where you walk on the grass. They even make holes in the middle of the paths. Also they don’t cut the grass in the back so there’s lots of fox tails very Bad for dogs.
Sherene Saenz: ★★★
I like this park to walk around. Sometimes bathrooms are locked or too dirty to use, especially when it's not during Covid. Weekends during "normal time" this park gets busy. Be aware of that.
Matthew Jake Pieraldi: ★★★
Great park for meandering walks, lots of open grass areas, and plenty of workout spaces, playgrounds, & courts (tennis & bball).
Negative Reviews:
Zot Stuff: ★★
Decent courts, but the locals are very territorial and instructors take over multiple courts for hours at a time on any given day; the city does nothing about it, despite paid lessons being explicitly prohibited. Locals will literally sit on a court the entire day and rotate their newly arriving friends on and off the court, instead of queuing like they are supposed to. Don't bother arguing, they'll either pretend to not speak English or give you attitude for daring to call them out for breaking the rules.
Ozel Kirkland: ★
Cataldi Park fire-damaged spot. Same location taken years earlier, but a homeless encampment now occupies the fence line of the image.
Frank Delgado: ★
Very overcrowded and loud music blaring the day and time we were there. Most people were not wearing masks. No parking available.
Anita Rodriguez: ★★
They need to put in restrooms on other side of park. The park is pretty big so u have to walk way to other side/ Drive really cause to far to walk espeically for kids. Didnt really care for the park. Wont be going to this park again
