Brice Chevalier has been a truly exceptional coach and mentor to our child over the years. His no-nonsense approach sets a tone of professionalism and focus, but it’s always balanced with genuine care and flexibility to meet each student where they are. Brice sets high expectations and holds his athletes accountable—but never at the expense of joy. He manages to push for excellence while still making the sessions fun and rewarding. We’ve seen real growth, not just in skill, but in character, discipline, and confidence. Brice has made a lasting impact, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have found such a dedicated coach. Highly recommended for any family looking for top-tier tennis coaching in Santa Cruz.
Julius Kong: ★★★★★
Brice is an amazing tennis instructor. Our boys have taken tennis lessons for years with varies coaches at different places but we had not seen much results. They have just been with Brice for a year, and they have made significant progress. They couldn’t even hold a tennis racket properly nor have the proper footwork and form. Brice is able to analyze their problems quickly and help them correct it. Under Brice’s guidance, they are confident and truly enjoy playing tennis. Brice has even given me some pointers. He truly is the best coach in this area and we are so glad we found him! We highly recommend him!

Large well appointed rooms. The main building is beautiful. The View Restaurant has amzing food, great service, sweeping views of Monterrey Bay and live music nightly. The resort is expansive. The pool are is beautiful and you can order food and drinks. The spa and huge fitness center are great amenities. I love the sauna. The three hot tubs and two pools, plus tennis and pickleball and bocce, and hiking trails. There is so much to do. Plus its a quick 10 minure drive down the hill to the beach and the boardwalk. Best of both worlds sleeping in the quiet mountains with so much right around you. Trip type: Business. Travel group: Solo. This place is pretty nice. Stayed there while I was in town for work for a few days. Thought I had food poisoning but I think I’m just allergic to shell fish... shame because Santa Cruz has lots of great sea food, and I had a TON of oysters while I was there the first night. Needless to say I absolutely destroyed the bathroom. Sorry 😣 Beds are comfy and rooms are spacious, they even have a sauna and steam room AND pickle-ball courts. Huge plus in my book.
Robert Rothrock: ★★★★★
Really enjoyed our stay. The mini suites were nice. We had multiple families all booked into neighboring rooms. The grounds are a splendid playland of family activities. The pool and hot tub were wonderfully warm, even in the chill and rain. I will admit, normally, this place would be well out of our price range, but with a discount our family had a delightful time. Staff is friendly and efficient, and it was actually comforting to see them come around and sanitize the common areas on a regular basis. If you're looking for a family experience where you can spend the day with your kids playing at the pool, or bocce, or corn hole, or horseshoes, or disc golf, or tennis, or pickleball, or hiking . . . Get the point . . . And never leave the site, this is it.

I really enjoyed my stay here! Although the room was utilitarian, the restaurants and grounds were wonderful! I stayed in a "luxury king" room that consisted of a bed and bathroom. There was a small refrigerator in the room but no microwave. The room did have a nice deck off the back though. It would have been nice if there was a divider between our deck and the others but there wasn't. The grounds were immaculate with majestic views. There is a walking/hiking trail on the property as well. The pool/spa area was nice. The volleyball court and tennis courts were nice, too.

The only off thing was a small hole in my pillowcase. The staff was friendly, the restaurant delicious, swimming pool nice. Beach volleyball, tennis courts, hiking...the resort is lovely and beautiful to explore. The beds were comfy, the rooms were sleek and modern and the patio with a Forest view is so relaxing.

visited for a work event and enjoyed my time there. fitness room was pretty decent; was also able to borrow rackets and balls to hit the tennis court at no cost either. the food they catered was good.

Went for my wife's work offsite. The rooms were pretty nice, very nice size and stood out when we entered. However, we were on the 2nd floor and there was no elevator access at all. Not one to complain about taking the stairs, but when you have to unload/load by yourself with a baby, taking the stairs is rough and probably not doable for most. (Would this even be an ADA compliance issue?) We also noted that there was no hairdryer in the room. Other than that it was great. They had some great desserts, the food was eh..Ok, but that's what one would expect from buffet style I suppose. They have a couple trails around the facility which were pretty nice and they do have tennis courts and a pool.
Robert Scheffel: ★★★★
Very nice resort with large hotel rooms. Property is large with multiple possible activities such as hiking, tennis, weight room, spa, pool and jacuzzi. Restaurant serves good food and has a terrace overlooking a downhill view to the ocean in the distance. Their website however is poor, with almost no photos or good descriptions of much of this. It isn't easy to choose rooms or plan activities based on this.
Eric Simmonds: ★★★★
This relaxing spa getaway is equipped with 2 indoor hottubs, a spa, massage, and fitness center, an outdoor heated pool and hot tub, as well as tennis courts, a sand volleyball court and a lobby that is always bustling with new people, as well as a hiking trail just behind the resort. The staff onhand is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The only things to keep in mind is that no meals are included and the rooms are comfortable, but definitely not made to entice you staying there all day. Minimum cable options, and a mini fridge are the only extra amenities, although I hear you can request a microwave.
Courtney Earles: ★★★★★
Beautiful resort, built on eucalyptus mountain. Walking trails, disc golf, cornhole, horseshoes, tennis, pool, spa, and more. Comfy beds, shared patio area, nice tvs & sitting area. Parking was a little difficult, they do offer free valet. Didn't get a chance to try on-site restaurants, 2 to chose from. Overall wonderful experience!!

Excellent location for a relaxing weekend away. Nice hiking trail around the premises. We didn't have a chance to make use of the pool or tennis courts, but those looked like fun, too!

The Chaminade is, and has been, the premier spa/resort in Santa Cruz. Caters to many hobbies, like tennis swimming and golf, and has a nice restaurant with a Sunday Brunch. Rooms are clean, and very nice. Plus pricing is competitive... Very nice place to, eat, stay, have a meeting, or any and all of the above.

If you like nature, and are looking to be active during your vacation , this is the place . This resort offers miles of trails in the redwoods , spa treatment ,pool, gym ,hot tubs , massage , tennis courts and more . Best tennis lessons too with the local pro . While being tucked in nature The Chaminade resort is only located few miles away from the city of Santa Cruz and from multiple beaches offering great surfing . During my stay and while trying to find my way around I met Kevin the general manager and end up having the best conversation .Really jovial guy ! I will come back soon . It is great to know while living in SF I can jump in my car and in an hour be away in this peaceful environment . Trip type: Vacation. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

A quiet retreat in the hills of Santa Cruz off of Soquel Ave. The pool is heated to 80 degrees so even early morning swims are comfortable. The View Restaurant is beautifully located with forested acerage in the foreground and the Pacific Ocean in the distance. There are tennis courts and hiking trails. I will definitely return!

Stayed here for a friend's wedding. There are things to do in the he grounds - such as tennis, volleyball, and a great pool - as well as close by. As mentioned in other reviews, the walls are a bit thin but was never a problem.

Great experience, we used the tennis courts the jacuzzi. next time we are going to get a message and walk the trails. Here is a picture where we had breakfast at the resort

Secluded in the beautiful hills of Santa Clara, this is a great place to chill out. Rooms are comfy but maybe not as upscale as you might think for the price. However the great views and surrounding nature makes up for it. Plenty of activity for the kids.. Pool can get crowded. There are tennis courts, bocce ball frisbee golf, and corn hole. For Tesla and ev owners, there are 6 Tesla destination chargers and 1 regular ev charger.

Beautiful setting and nice, comfortable beds; but value for money was not there. Attention to detail, especially by hotel staff, was lacking. Resort fee of $40 a day (on top of high daily cost to stay here) to be able to potentially use pool, fitness center and tennis courts was too high. Daily parking fee of $20 a day should not have been a charge - we were already paying a high daily cost to stay at the resort. Food in the main restaurant 'the View' was not good. We ate 2 meals at the restaurant, one dinner and one breakfast and neither was top flight. The breakfast (two eggs, bacon, potatoes and a coffee) charge was $33.00 and the service was not good. Check-in was an adventure. Overall - the resort was nice; but not as nice as it could be...needs more attention to detail. Additional knowledgeable staff needed across the board.

I'll go over what we really liked first. Very friendly staff, amazingly accommodating when we needed to switch rooms from 1 king to 2 queens, easy check-in, great pool and hot tub location and feel, wide open gym and spa area, awesome to have trails and tennis courts on-site. The Sandbox food truck was very convenient (although it only had about 4 basic options and nothing like what's listed on the menu on the website) Essentially the best Santa Cruz hotel based on the amenities. The problem, and reason for why we probably won't come back, is that it doubles as a wedding hotel. We had our two very young kids with us, and were all woken up multiple times by wedding guests (could hear them talking about it), from 11PM all the way to 2:30AM. This is a $600+ hotel...They were not only talking / shouting, but blasting music outside and even filled our room with weed smell, which is when I called a second time to complain. We almost checked out and drove 2 hours home. Now this is not Chaminade's fault that guests aren't courteous, but when my parents stayed there about a month or so ago and had a similar experience, we just figured it was a one off. It shouldn't have taken security until 2:30am to get this to stop. Ultimately one of the worst, sleepless nights we've had at a hotel. Trip type: Vacation. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5

Stayed here just after covid-19 restrictions were eased a little. The location and grounds are very nice and there's a lot of potential here. Fitness center excellent, view from restaurant very nice. Tennis courts also very nice, but popular and sometimes hard to reserve. Fire pits look like fun, but seemingly impossible to reserve. The pool is tiny and only 5 ft deep. Literally many private homes will have larger pools than this one. Some hotels limit the number of guests and leave rooms empty a day, but not here. Place was fully booked and the pool too crowded. Facilities were pretty run down to be honest. Our fridge was broken, lots of rust, stains, and torn fabric everywhere. Most staff was friendly but a few more than just gruff. There were a number of communication errors, delays and issues with reservations. Seemed very short staffed. I hope they get it all sorted out!

I stayed for two nights here. The place has a nice location and surrounded by forests with a few hiking trails. The tennis courts are very nice. The rooms have bad isolation and it could be noisy if someone walking in the room on top of yours. The worst part is that the wifi of my room is broken and I asked the front desk three times in the day. They said they would send someone to check every time but nobody came in the end. The last time they even asked me wait in my room but nobody came at all. So the wifi stayed broken the whole time during my stay. I would not recommend it for anyone who needs some wifi availability during stay Trip type: Business Travel group: Solo. Rooms: 2 Service: 1 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great view

We were looking forward to spending some time in Santa Cruz and we were pleased to find a last minute deal online. However, once arriving to the hotel, we realized that the pictures were more pleasing than the actual accommodation. The hotel and the facilities are very old and dated. The clerk at the front desk was super friendly; however, we realized that her 'great recommendations' were soon to be short lived. She was very nice and helped us put our rooms next to our friend's rooms and she also gave us a choice of an upstairs or downstairs room. She recommended that the downstairs room was much nicer since it had access to a large balcony -- we decided to listen to her since, hey, she knows the most about this resort! In hindsight, I should have listened to my boyfriend's recommendation of going with the upstairs room. The room we were given was SO NOISY. We could hear every creak and crack of the guests staying above us. I don't think the guests were doing anything particularly crazy -- just walking around. The 'large balcony' turned out to just be an open sliding glass door into a wooded area (no dividers between the different blocks of rooms). We were also disappointed because the front desk clerk said that we could reserve tennis courts and that they would be able to rent us tennis rackets and equipment. When we called later to reserve a court, we were told that they do not rent out equipment. We probably would not stay here again.

Totally overpriced, club members preferred, would be "resort and spa". We have spent a long weekend at Chaminade Resort & Spa, looking forward to the relaxation, spa, fine dining. It turned out that the restaurant does not accept reservations because it is fully booked forever. Weird thing when you look at all the empty tables kept for who knows whom. The spa was also not available and booked out. The spa amenities are open to the spa guests (not since no reservations possible) and the club members. The tennis courts were mostly occupied by the club members also. So basically as a regular guest you are left out to your luck with a forest "cabin" amenities at the price of Ritz Carlton. After complaining to the management we were eventually granted a place in the restaurant and a refund of $350 on the total hotel fee (16%). I assume we should be thankful to be let in so such a minor thing like serving an appetizer simultaneously with the main course should not be mentioned. We never got to the spa. When checking out the promised refund did not show on the bill. After complaining again, we got the $350 off. Strange that such "mistakes" only happen to the hotel benefit and never other way around. The overall grounds are beautiful, to give it a justice. The forest trail is not overbooked and available to non-club-members. The restaurant has a beautiful view and good food if you manage to get on the short list of preferred guests. Considering the secluded location and the lack of alternatives other than driving to the nearest cities to eat it is a weak performance. I would not recommend to anyone hoping to find resort and spa. If you need a forest cabin, it is a great place, of course assuming you are ok to pay several hundreds of dollars for a cabin. Trip type: Vacation. Rooms: 3 Service: 2 Location: 5
