We found Wolf + Bear on a day it was raining and were thrilled to learn of so many indoor courts available for reservation. The courts were lovely, the staff was friendly, and it's SUPER COOL that they exist in old movie sound stages. Fun piece of LA history and makes the noise of pickleball much less of an issue. We live on the west side and this place is worth the drive!

Fantastic facility. I am here at least 4 hours per week, and often 6+ hours a week. Its been 3+ months. I decided to write out a detailed review, but the summary is that this is the best paid facility, and pretty clearly beats the other 3 facilities I've tried. Criticisms: The private court (court #7) is short on the baselines. Not much worse than other places, but definitely worse than the other courts at Wolf & Bear. Courts 1-3 in their first facility have no sound dampening. The other indoor place nearby has none either, its not a big deal. But compared to their new courts which have insane sound deadening, its unpleasant to go back to courts 1-3. All the courts are narrow. Not any worse than other dedicated courts that aren't hybrid tennis courts. Still a bummer. The open plays are not managed in terms of player skill. As a 3.6 player I go undefeated at the 3.5-4.0 open play. Again, this is not unique to W&B as a facility. I can't think of anything else to be critical about. Its a very short list. Good stuff: Surfaces are good, I've been going for at least 3 months and they must be cleaned on some sort of schedule, they've never been dirty. Nets are never at the wrong height (better than I can say for Warner Center Pickleball and SmashDink). Courts 1-3 are separated in a way where balls from other courts dont interrupt your games. The new courts are not as good as courts 1-3, but are still better than Warner Center Pickleball and SmashDink. The fences are about 4 feet high. Some places dont even have fences, others use those 2 foot tall fabric walls. Wolf and Bear has fences that are at least 4 feet tall. Bathrooms are nice, and clean. Lights are nice and high, you rarely accidentally look at them. Most places are good at this but still, worth mentioning. The employees that I've spoken to (Hunter, Louie, Riley) are all pretty knowledgeable about pickleball. I dont think this will always be true, as more employees get hired to manage the new courts, but for now it is nice that the employees all know more about pickleball than you. They got a security guy onsite during the night. Big guy. Obviously hes not there to fight anyone but he probably drops the chances of smash and grabs in the parking lot down to 0%. Really nice touch by the management.

Overall not a bad spot. The courts are tight and it's loud in the facility. I went during the day and no one was playing. Kinda typical though at that time of day. I'll try it again and will update my rating in the event it's a better experience.
