Tennis and Pickleball courts in Ventura County

Harry Lyon Park Tennis and Pickleball Courts

3 tennis courts. 6 temporary pickleball courts. Courts are not in too bad of shape, but they need some repairs. There is a friendly and welcoming pickleball group of players that gathers Tuesdays at 3:30 and Saturday at 9. They have portable nets. One of the few places in Ventura where you can play pickleball. There is no shade. It’s a beautiful clean park with a playground, nicely kept fields and grass area, several baseball fields, basketball court, small skatepark, tennis courts, bocce ball. There are nice views of the surrounding hills. The facilities are all easily accessible and reasonably maintained. Public water and dog fountains around the park. Restrooms are usually clean and open during daytime hours. Plenty of parking space, but it can be challenging during peak hours or sport events.

It’s one of the few places in Ventura where you can play pickleball. Portable nets. Zero shade. Very sketchy surfaces but better than nothing. People are friendly which is definitely worth something. UPDATED! This park has been vastly improved. Resurfaced, new nets, balls provided. Saturday mornings are fun and competitive. Usually, 80% full or so.

Friendly welcoming people to play pickleball with! Courts are not in too bad of shape and they have temporary nets but it’s a nice group to get to know and they welcome strangers! Tuesdays at 3:30 and Saturday at 9.

Perfect for pickleball!
Cameron Embree: ★★★★
Good open grass area, tennis courts, and baseball diamonds. Good spot except occasionally some people sleep around there at night. We feel very safe during the day and pretty comfortable in the evenings, although we have turned away from the park if there are some shady characters about.
