Tennis and Pickleball courts in Altadena, Los Angeles County

Farnsworth Park Tennis and Pickleball Courts

1 tennis court, 4 dedicated pickleball courts with lights, 2 full size basketball courts in Charles S. Farnsworth Park in Altadena, California. Farnsworth Park is closed because of the Eaton fire. In the aftermath of the devastating January 2025 Southern California wildfires, recovery is taking root in Altadena, not only in homes and hillsides, but in three public parks that have long served as gathering places for the community. The old Farnsworth park landmark building is gone, but the Amphitheater pretty much survived. Most of the park is unscathed. Park with a community building with skyline views, plus amphitheater, playgrounds & sports fields. Small parking lot, but lots of space.

The Eaton -Altadena Wildfires 1/7 &8 2025 have done a lot of damage to the Farnsworth Park - which has suffered and survived many shakes, quakes, floods, gangs, fires and activities through the years. Stay strong!!
Mr S: ★★★★★
My grandma used to walk me here to play tennis as a kid. Her house was destroyed in the fires.. I hope they can rebuild this area 🙏 …
Marco Hernandez: ★★★★★
PICKLEBALL❗️Newer courts that are well maintained. Too many people and only 4 Courts. Playground: The toddler to 12 year old playground is very new and nice. Restrooms: Restrooms are plenty and clean. Dog-friendliness: I always see lots of dogs with plenty of places to run. Picnic area: The covered picnic areas are large. Barbecue pits and picnic tables are a plenty and can be reserved via the L.A. County website.
Francis Graziano: ★★★★★

Great park with baseball, basketball and tennis courts, playground for kids, and plenty of seating and grass area. Plenty of community events too. They touched it up recently, and it's as nice as ever
Kevin Johnson: ★★★★★

Becky Beighley: ★★★★★

Arthur Greenup II: ★★★★
Great little venue to see a small concert. Parking is a true hassle. The sound is good, the people are fun get there early.
Gilbert Artiaga: ★★★★
There a fantastic concerts at Farnsworth during the summer evenings on Saturday's. Check the Star News first or the Altadena news.
Raquel Hunter: ★★★★★
Great park. It is always clean and not heavily trafficked. There is a large baseball field, a well-lit basketball court, a children's playground, a few picnic areas and an Amphitheater. During the summer months, the amphitheater hosts local bands. The concerts are usually packed, but the target audience seems to be retirees and senior citizens. This park is popular for birthday parties. Make sure you contact the city and make a reservation.
Janet Zeile: ★★★★★
A beautiful park with lots of green grass, picnic tables (with grills), tennis and basketball courts, several baseball fields, and even an amphitheater, where plays and concerts are held in the summer. The craftsman lodge has an interior stage and huge stone fireplace. I think it can be rented out for events, like art shows. Such a great location, right next to the mountains. They filmed “The Little Rascals” there. The pergola with the wisteria on it is gorgeous in March, when the wisteria blooms.

Me and my husband went to this park in Altadena and we love it. The park is clean, and the ambiance is perfect for us. It has it’s own solemnity even though there are other people in the park playing, chatting and kids running around still me and my husband enjoy our time. We had our little picnic there. They have grillers that you can use to cook/bbq and have enough tables to sit and eating spots. The neighborhood is very disciplined, has a lot of possible spots to park around the park. We will come back again to sit and relax in this park.

Small parking lot, but lots of space. No monkey bars at the playscape.

Pretty lame how they replaced the tennis courts with pickleball. Tennis players - play at the Rose Bowl or Arcadia Park.
Roberto Barbarino: ★★★
Quiet garden with tennis, basketball, baseball courts, well-kept lawns like in all public places, games for children up to 5 years old.
Ryan Green: ★★★
Decent park. Altadena kinda outta the way. Unless you live there. Good hiking trails nearby. Has a baseball diamond. Couple basketball courts. Picnic areas. I believe you can reserve them. Used to back in the day anyway. Limited parking. At the top or north end of the park. Some street parking all around with a small southern lot on the south east end. Park kept clean for the most part. Pleasant folks frequent.
Trice Hearns: ★★★
The low side at a park when you watching a baseball game comes with plenty of shade but the high side doesn't have any shade really unless you sit up at the top of the steep hill up under the tree
Rey Rivera: ★★★
It's a nice park, but with so much fenced in area and plenty dogs around it could use an off-leash dog area.
Joe Grueter: ★★★
They say they're going to be remodeling the park soon so, well, it's fun now I hope they maintained that old world charm.
Clarence Blair: ★★★
Great place for free concerts on the lawn.
Christine Firpo: ★★★
Not much shade.
Karl Herbst: ★★★
Could be a little cleaner

Playground: Nice. Restrooms: Clean and safe
Dave Eggers - Dog Trainer: ★
It's amazing to see five and eight year olds playing baseball. But when the batters wear helmets and they don't have the kid who squatting down behind home plate wearing any protective gear not even a mask. With a grown man pitching. And all the people watching including the coaches think that's safe. One person even commented well they're not throwing 90 miles an hour. So why do the batters wear helmets? These people are just irresponsible idiots every one of them!
Dareesa Weir: ★
There is a play area and walking path. Good if you want ro play in the grass butvbit much else
