University Community Park Tennis and Pickleball Courts in Irvine, CA

4 tennis courts with lights and 1 layover pickleball court in University Community Park in Irvine, California. Easy to get a free court around 6:30 in the morning. 3 racquetball courts, and 3 walls to practice tennis. 2 sand volleyball courts. All the courts have lights. There’s a small sidewalk trail loop maybe 1/8 mile total. Plus sports fields, picnic areas and indoor facilities. Huge playground with various sports facilities. Good open place to hang, with multiple tennis courts, one basketball court (+ a mini one behind the building), nice small path around a nice small grassy area, a multipurpose building I never used, and clean restrooms. Really well-lit at night until 10 pm. Clean restroom. Parking spaces are also available nearby.

Such a cool place. The regular park is cool, and has a playground, area to play in the grass, tennis courts, basketball courts and baseball fields. Also, Adventure Playground is right there.

I used to go to several camps here, the park is great for a walk and taking a dog here, and the park has several courts for tennis, racquetball, basketball, volleyball, and there's a large open field for people to bring out their own equipment and play other sports. This park is clean and staff often are seen replacing the garbage and making sure the park is clean.
Vipul Singh: ★★★★★
I usually go here to play tennis at 6:30 in the morning. Never had trouble getting a court. There's 4 of them, and also a basketball court right next to us. Surrounded by grassy fields, so quite a nice spot. Also easy to find parking.

I am always happy to find community spaces where people can gather to enjoy the beauty of each day. This is a very nice park with basketball, tennis, and racket ball courts. There are also picnic tables and grills. It is next to a public library and an elementary school.
Renaldo Lawson: ★★★★★
Great place for all family members to have a good time. Tennis, raquetball, basketball, volleyball, a great kids playground, plenty of trees for shade and benches for eating and enjoying the day.

The adventure park is so unique, it has a big slide coming out of a fort, netting tunnels, mud, giant blocks to build, water play area with water spouts, big concrete slides, books, chalk, Zen garden, bathrooms, changing tables, walkways for strollers around the park. It's all fenced in except the front entrance, they also have crafts, foosball, table tennis... So much fun! They also have picnic tables but they fill up quickly. I've seen people bring blankets and chairs to have lunch on the lawn.

The park is awesome. Lots of greens. Tennis, racquetball, volleyball and basketball courts. Has a restroom that opens at 9 and closes at dusk, next to the office. We were there to play volleyball and arrived an hour earlier to reserve the courts. We had more than 20 people. Before we even started to play, a group of so-called regulars said that they always play there and that they had the right to use the courts. WHAT? This is a public park, it runs as first come first serve basis. If you want to have the right to use the court, come early, have someone stand there and use the court or make more money and build a park with a volleyball court where you can play anytime. We were nice enough to let them use one of the court while the 24 of us had to rotate and play 1 game at the time. Worse thing was another group of so-called regulars told us that they wanted to use our court after we are done. Excuse me? Why are you pushing us to give you the court? Why don't you go stand in line and try to get the other court? Overall, beautiful park with great amenities but the people that kicked us out from the court are a disappointment.
Oscar Gonzalez: ★★★★★
One of the nicest parks in Irvine. It has tennis courts, raquetball, a huge playground and even bigger open grassy space to play and explore with your kids. It is distanced from major highways too so it seems a lot safer than other parks that are adjacent o major arterial roads. Highly recommend this for parents with kids looking for a park adventure.

Nice old small park. 4 Tennis courts, 3 Racquetball courts, and 3 walls to practice tennis. 2 sand volleyball courts. All the courts have lights. There's a small sidewalk trail loop maybe 1/8 mile total. Decent size field to fly a kite but kind of deep grass for soccer and no lighting. Medium size playground with lots of different swings, bars, nets, slides, etc.. I would give it 5 stars if it was a full basketball court and if the volleyball had softer sand with no little rocks.

To be fair, we came here for the Adventure Playground. It was closed even though the website said it was open. The aygrpund was nothing special as far as playgrounds go, but there was a library right next to it for a safe amd clean bathroom option for the kids. I will update when we actually go inside adventure playground .

It would be a great park but it is almost never open! It's closed during school days..only open for a few hours before sundown. Also closed during summer during the week (see pic).

The UCP Club house is nice and big with a decent sized backyard too. However the place feels a bit dated.
rebecca dunn: ★★★
Big park. Big blocks on sand for everyone to play with. But they took the splash pad away and not as much shade.

Great space with big parking lot

My goodness the field quality is horrible. grass is lumpy and uneven. Muddy even without any rain. Pockets of gnats that you will walk through and a few will get swallowed. Definitely not maintained by the city. But on the opposite side by the courts and the public library, the quality is better. Great park and picnic areas. Avoid the grass fields that are part of the school. if your soccer team is going to practice here, beg them to change or quit the team. I know other countries would consider this an amazing field because they play on rocks and there is not a single square of grass anywhere. But we don't live in the third world. we pay a premium to live and work and play in Irvine. Maybe the city can help maintain the field?? Playground: yes. Restrooms: yes. Dog-friendliness: yes. Picnic area: yes.

SMH the one and only hoops net is beyond weathered and useless. Can’t fathom the thought of how much time has passed since the last maintenance/walk through for this poorly kept community park. Felt as if we were in Santa Ana and didn’t feel safe or comfortable, I guess maybe the city’s got the countless other parks and communal spaces to prioritize and upkeep. It’s a no for me, never again.
