Garvey Park Tennis and Pickleball Courts in Rosemead, CA

5 lighted tennis courts with benches, 4 pickleball courts at designated times. 3 courts are reserved for tennis, and 2 courts are reserved for pickleball. The courts are somewhat closed in with two exit doors. Park employees will set up and take down the nets. Perfect place for a pickleball if you have the equipment. Well maintained. Nets are only set up at certain times during the day by the city of Rosemead. You can bring your own net to play if visiting at other times. The east fence of the courts also needs a screen to block the wind.

If you’re coming for tennis they are open until 10:00 p.m. lights turn off then. Convenient public tennis courts. There’s a parking lot, and they are open late. May need to wait your turn, and the courts are a pretty old and scratched up, but solid place to play. Not a lot of people come here to play.

Pickleball Pilot Program

As a Pilot Program, temporary pickleball lines have been added to Court #2 for shared use. This initiative is designed to allow the community to enjoy pickleball and to help staff better understand how the courts are being used, as well as to identify any potential concerns.

The pilot program will allow the city to evaluate:

  • Frequency of court use, and any challenges that arise from shared use.
  • Any concerns as a result of the added pickleball courts.
  • Community feedback on whether the court should only be a tennis court or should be a hybrid court with the tennis and pickleball option.

Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts and any impacts with the Recreation & Community Services Department by emailing recreation@montereypark.ca.gov. Additionally, there will be an opportunity for community comments during the Recreation and Parks Commission meeting on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Longley Center (400 W. Emerson Ave.). Thank you.

Very busy park with tons of play areas including pickleball, tennis, basketball, baseball, dog park, grassy areas etc.
Pen Rose: ★★★★
This park is so lively on weekends! When I was there to play tennis, I couldn't help but notice tons of pickleball players packing the courts. 3 courts are reserved for tennis, and 2 courts are reserved for pickleball. The courts are somewhat closed in with two exit doors.

6 tennis courts and 1 court has lines for pickleball. Nets are only set up at certain times during the day by the city of Rosemead. You can bring your own net to play if visiting at other times. Dog-friendliness: They have a dog park with a side for large dogs (over 25 lbs) and a side for small dogs (under 25 lbs). The large dog side had more apparatus for the dogs while the small side was mainly a synthetic grass area and tables/benches for people. Picnic area: Covered picnic area with benches. Lots of shade around the grass, too.

4 pickleball courts at designated times. Park employee will set up and take down the nets.
Dennis Guo: ★★★★
Nice park. It would be better if some long benches are installed by the pickleball courts for the waiting players. The east fence of the courts also needs a screen to block the wind.

Great spot for the kids, has a indoor basketball court, as well as a couple tennis courts and a "water park." Pretty good spot for having birthday parties too!
Kaia Kim: ★★★★★
Neat little dog park. Pretty easy to find as you see the dog prints near the parking lot. Lots of grass and pretty spacious even tho as someone mentioned the large dog area is in a T shape next to the tennis courts. Seems like a good use of extra space. As another reviewer also mentioned it seems they don’t come daily to clean the park as the trash cans were full and the dispensers were empty but saving that there was only a little bit of poop someone didn’t seem to pick up near the entrance of the dog park. There are also shaded tables on each end of the large dog side and other benches spread out in the middle. I didn’t explore the rest of the park. It it also seemed very clean and full of plush grass if you decide to walk around (which I have not done yet). Also parking is very ample!
Athena Baghoumian: ★★★★

Yujin Lai: ★★★★★

Ben Evardome: ★★★★★
This park is one of the bigger parks I've seen. They have multiple playgrounds, a splash pad, tennis courts, a workout area, great walkways to walk and bike around, and plenty of trees for shade. I would go here again.

This park has all of the great things you want in a public park and lots more.... A great big green area, with lots of trees, fitness circuit, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, nice grass and well maintained equipment. If you are a Rosemead resident you can use the water park for $5.

Small park, but a lot of nice stuff crammed into it. There are two baseball fields, a good amount of tennis courts, a pool with some water slides, indoor basketball courts, and plenty of gazebos for having a picnic. A very nice park.

The baseball/softball fields are ok. The bathrooms are horrible. I don't want people walking by, nor the people in the next "stall", to see me do my business.

Restroom needs an upgrade or at least needs to be clean more often. Other than that it's a nice park to go to.

Negative Reviews:
Andy Quach: ★
this park has the potential to be great... with the water slide, baseball field, tennis courts, kids play area, etc but due to the high number of homeless camp grounds, I wouldn't recommend taking your kids here. there looks be people with mental problems or just high drug used all around the park. there will always be some homeless people at parks but this place has a lot more. they even have their tents setup.
Veronika Borisenko: ★
The playground is very small, and my child needed to go to the bathroom, but all the restrooms were closed. It was a Tuesday at 3 PM. 😫 It's a nightmare, they don't keep an eye on it at all. 😖😢 The playground is very dirty, no one keeps it clean. It's very sad.😢 Maintenance: Average condition. Restrooms: restrooms were closed
Jason Toledo: ★
Park is nice. But there is dog poop everywhere in the grass area.
winson lo: ★
Good place for exercise but needs to be cleaned up. About ten o'clock on Monday or Tuesday night two Latino boys one with a knife in front of me asking to give him all my money and one in the back big and tall his face cover with a blue bandana.
HUEY L: ★★
Public bathroom is OK, sometimes very dirty, people with dogs walking, dogs are loose on their leash, and they don't clean up after the dogs. Therefore, dog poop everywhere.....
Luis Mandujano: ★★
unsafe park, many dangerous/suspicious people
