George Izay Park Tennis and Pickleball Courts in Burbank

Summary / Description

2 lighted tennis courts, 8 layover pickleball courts in George Izay Park in Burbank, CA. Alternate days/nights for pickleball and tennis. 8 pickleball courts with mobile nets and lines on the tennis courts. There is a white board process that works same as paddle racks at other courts. Night lights are nice and bright. Games move at a decent pace so it's not too long of a wait in-between games unlike in busier courts in the south bay. There's a couple of handball courts that you can use for practicing your tennis or racquetball. Nice, clean and well maintained recreation center in Burbank. Two tennis courts have been defaced with pickleball markings and a confusing split schedule. Hope it keeps everyone away so I can play. I want to keep this place a secret but needed to pay respect for providing a life experience. Just like death & taxes, all dads inevitably get a nut-check. And for me, that day was today. My almost 12 year old took a full 180-degree swing of his tennis racket and smashed a tennis ball from 30 feet away, laser beaming it right at my right nut sac. I mean, the ball was traveling a good 80 mph with NO sag - just a clean straight line. All the air in my body left instaneously, and my testicle felt like it richocheted from my crotch up my body until it jammed itself in my throat. I could neither breathe nor breathe fast enough to release the pain. I stood in a fetal position after letting out a yelp and held my remaining nut - desperately hoping the other one would drop back. Somehow it's taken me this long in my life to finally articulate what it feels like to experience smashed balls. I stood there, unable to move, furiously in pain, and uncontrollable laughing at the situation. I looked in the direction of the tennis ball-rocket launcher and he had disappeared. And from an untraceable location a small voice said, "I'm sorry. Are you ok, daddy?" So, why do I call it a "nut-check"? Because the only logical thing that remains is later that night (or maybe even sooner), when the kid's asleep, after a shower, you'll check yourself. The surprising part is, if you were properly beamed like me, your bean bag would be slightly swollen with fewer wrinkles - just like when they were younger and less influenced by gravity. Just sharing a fun (yet painful) fact. Not that I wish this on anyone.

Although I longer live in the area, whenever I visit, I always make it a point to come here. I grew up going to this park. I Used to take ballet here. Now I definitely utilize the tennis and racket ball courts when I have the chance. It's a well maintained place. Great to get away from home for a while.

Not a fan of the new playground equipment. There's a lot less to play on and they took out the small child swings.
Allisknu11: ★★★
Basketball court is too small. Can only play full team games. Can't just shoot around.
Karl E. Hosch: ★★★
Okay park mostly fenced off due to 4 massive ball fields so basically most of the park is not available to the public despite being a PUBLIC park.

This park has went way downhill. The bathrooms are filthy and smell. The parking lot by the baseball diamonds are filthy and full of trash pine needles everywhere.Fire hazard. I went to get some free mulch. And the mulch is so disgusting and smells like rat pee.. There was even an old Christmas tree. It's september. This park used to be so nice 20 years ago. Don't know what happened. It's a shame. Makes me sad. Visited on: Weekday. Wait time: No wait. Reservation recommended: Not sure
Imani Entertainment Enterprises: ★★
