I love South Yuba club. You guys are hands down the best gym in Grass Valley area. The pool, sauna, yoga and tennis courts are why we're there. Otherwise we can lift weights anywhere. And you treat us well. Would love more yoga classes and later hours though🙏🏼🙏🏼
Julie Carville: ★★★★★
This gym is beautiful, spacious with lots of windows, to bring sunlight into the club, great tennis courts and salt water pool and excellent trainers, the TRX team exercise classes are my favorite!

The staff are very nice..No one wipes down their equipment after using. New lockers suck.. however it's the only gym with an indoor pool and the yoga instructor is amazing. It's not worth the membership fees, but only gym with a pool. BEWARE!! Of cold plunge take shower before and after.
Super Nova: ★★★★
A friendly Enjoyable club with a great staff, I’d suggest improving the weekend closing hours past 7pm to at least 8 pm. Also the leg press machine is antiquated and recommended it be replaced. All in all it’s a good gym.

I’m rejoining the club after an absence from the area for a year and there was a mix up about the rejoin fee special but Mike and the rest of the team worked it out so I’m very excited to come back and enjoy this place. I was a member from 2020-2023 and it is one of the best gyms around the world let alone in Nevada County. The outdoor gym and the hot tub in particular are gems. Good vibes!

I like South Yuba Club but the lack of an Ice Machine is mystery to me, especially with such a nice tennis facilities. Filling up water bottles without cold ice keeps me from drinking water while at the facility. I could drink a gallon or more a day if my water was not lukewarm. Most every nice health club in North America provides Ice to their members. It really makes the experience much better having ice cold water in the sauna as well. Lifting weights, yoga, basketball, aerobics, You name it. Water is one of the most important parts of creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and you guys are seriously lacking on that front!!!! Their should be cold filterated ice for everyone! The new water dispensers are great but now we just need Ice. We pay enough in members fees to have Ice!!!

There are times the gym is so crowded it becomes unusable. The equipment is also very dirty and old. A staff member also made a mistake on my pause membership form and, rather than help me figure out a way to fix the issue, another staff member told me there was nothing they could do and I would have to pay for the gym for a month I am unable to use it.

Virtually every piece of equipment I touched (particularly cardio) was in desperate need of maintenance. I love this place because of the early opening hours and variety of equipment you can use, but it’s really frustrating when a lot of it is failing. For the price and volume of membership (it gets extremely crowded) I’d really expect better attention to the quality of experience. Bikes, row ergs, sauna, and locker rooms all had some kind of maintenance need.

I have never had such a frustrating experience. For over a month now, I have been trying to get a membership at this gym. First they were having issues with their phone line, and every time I called to make an appointment, the call was dropped. I left messages asking for my call to be returned, and it never was. Next came problems with the website, which apparently isn’t allowing people to make appointments with Holden and is glitching for classes and swim appointments. I came in person a total of three times, Trying to catch or make an appointment with Holden. After finally being able to make an appointment, I came in only to be treated quite dismissively, never receiving an apology for how hard it was to make an appointment to join, and only to be told Nurses don’t qualify for the first responder discount ( despite being told that we do, and being given the pricing for the discount by Holden himself during one of the many dropped phone calls). I’ll take my business somewhere where they appreciate not only their customers (and other people’s time), but the life-saving care that nurses absolutely do provide on the frontline. What a disappointment from a local business.

2 stars based on experience. It often feels overcrowded. You can’t even change in the locker room without trying to move around several people at once, and the showers have little privacy with the glass dividers they chose to use. South Yuba Club is comparable to public transit in a large city.

Club just wants ur $$. This club finds every way to charge you without you realizing. It's dirty and overpriced. 1. Free trial referal can only b activated your friend is with u at first visit. 2. You can only start membership mon-fri 9-5pm. (A time which most customers would be ay their office. You'll have to pay for expensive day passes unless take a day off work to activate ur membership.) 3. Their website is designed, so the option to cancel membership is hidden and confusing. They do not allow you to cancel by phone or in the app. 4. They do not notify you of any upcoming charges you may have forgotten about. 5. When you cancel, you will still pay for the next 30 days
