Pickleball Noise Dispute

There is an ongoing noise dispute between the neighbourghood residents and pickleball players that’s led to vandalism and verbal threats.

Town officials laid out their $90,000 solution to the ongoing friction. It includes resurfacing the courts, installing sound barriers, monitoring security cameras and installing a time-sensitive locking gate. The efforts are an attempt to ease the animosity brewing between neighborhood residents and pickleball players over the sport’s noise, after the situation reached a boiling point when someone vandalized two of the four pickleball courts with oil. The two courts are now unusable.

Court renovations are slated to begin in October and end in December 2025, and will restore the two damaged courts. The vandalism isn’t an isolated incident, with four reports in the past year that have increased hostility, according to town officials and residents. Los Gatos is also looking for residents who live near the park and players to join a focus group to encourage healthy discussion.

Los Gatos isn’t considering expanding pickleball amenities elsewhere, even though La Rinconada Park’s four courts are the only free facilities in town. Residents can pay to use courts at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center. Officials said the renovations will consume most of the town’s pickleball budget, and they want to focus on remedying the existing issue.

Most hardcore pickleball playing I’ve ever seen. The crowd gets so rowdy, you’d think it’s an NFL game… with the RAIDERS. This park is not appropriate to be holding such pickleball events. It’s unfair to the neighbors and public. It needs to be bigger! More courts! Bigger parking lots! PA speakers to announce eliminations TO THE ☠️

It’s a great little park - grassy area, play structures, tennis and pickleball courts. Not too busy. Plenty of street parking.

Hello all, LA Rincon ada Park, a small neighborhood Oasis located directly adjacent to La Rinconada Country Club and golf course. It's also at the very bottom of the Los Gatos Foothills. Has a single tennis court lots of pickle lessons that have been witnessed there, a small playground perfectly suitable for I'd say about the four to 10-year-old range although we as adults have had plenty of good time on the tire swing. There are I don't know exactly I mean maybe four or five picnic tables and barbecue stands right next to them most of them it's a fun place just to dash out in a nice summer evening and just roast some sandwiches together or a quick barbecue and put some burgers on enjoy yourself and then tried back to the house there's ample room to throw Frisbee's play bean bag games let your dog walk your dog around and you'll see many of those there in the afternoons and evening especially. Never have we found it to be too crowded or uncomfortable and and we've got to it gotten to interact with many really pretty and nice animals and their really nice owners. All in all it's a great place to just relax have a little get together whatever it is that you like to do take a pickle lesson and play some pickle, play some tennis or Walk, hike some Trails off in the Foothills behind it so go forth and be merry, get some, exercise fresh air and have fun!

Smooth tennis courts nestled along a whispering creek. Players volley...back and forth...sharing stories of past times and visions of those in the making...

For a public park with public parking on the city street… the neighbors complain if you park in front of their homes on the public street.
Goddess TT: ★★★
Street parking only. Dog-friendliness: No dog Park.
Negative Reviews:
Waldo Joseph: ★★
Avoid in early mornings and late afternoons as although a “kids park”, it is usurped by pickleball players during those hours. Also in need of traffic mitigation during those times, and is relatively unsafe for kids riding bicycles on the street. Too many unleashed dogs (town ordinance is curiously not enforced).
Dylan Ronan: ★
The park is not very well taken care of. And for some reason with a playground, grills and picnic areas there are no restrooms. Not sure what is going on here.
