Visiting from out of town. Found this on Yelp. Nice clean shady large block park. Big playgrounds, swings, four tennis courts, fun amphitheater, huge multi table picnic area with a few larger bbqs that is shaded! The water fountain play area is turned off today, kid splash pool closed. Still the 4 children ages 2-13 I brought had a good time. I'd skip the bathrooms though!

This old city park in the nicest neighbor in Modesto near downtown has it all! Huge play structure to keep the little one happy. Tennis courts. An outdoor Amphitheater with free concerts during the summer. A little kiddie pool. Bathrooms! I took the little one yesterday after school, the play area was filled with kids playing, families picnicking, high school students doing what high school students do after school when they have no parental supervision, studying at the park, some smoking, snuggling with your BF or GF under the picnic table. Great place to take the family.

HISTORY: Question: Does anyone remember where the name "Graceada" Park came from? Answer: It was from the names of the of the wives of the two developers of the local homes. It was to honor their wives: Grace and Ada. I LOVE this park-- in the 60's I waded in the park's wading pool-- no longer there.The Mancini Bowl...Had music in evenings, in the 60's--I was age 7...summer evenings. Picnic with mom and dad.In the late 70's I taught swim lessons in the 3 ft. deep pool for, 1/2 hr. lessons, ages 4-6. It was my summer job for 8 years.-Modesto Parks and Rec.--Jean Heckendorf was my boss-- an amazing lady. (how many other people in Modesto Parks and Rec. know her name?)My parents in the 60's brought out their tennis rackets (that needed to be kept in a frame) and played on the courts in Graceada Park-- I took Modesto Parks and Rec tennis lessons in the 70's on these courts. I never could play well. I ate lunch with my my boyfriend's father, Harry Bruggeman, in this park--after I had taught swim lessons. -- An amazing time and many memories. The slides (no longer there)...the swings...the self push carousel (also no longer there)--I guess it is an insurance risk. But I have my memories--as do so many others.

Motown doesn't have a City Park, a la SF's Golden Gate Park, but this is good enough. And boy is it good.When one thinks of Modesto, a few things come to mind. "Water, Wealth, Contentment, Health" is what the city fathers want, says so on the I Street Arch. "Cowtown" is another; "endless tract housing" is another; sadly, "meth" is another. Oh yes, and the Gallos live here. But Graceada Park is located in an unexpected pocket of classic houses from several generations ago, on what was once THE street to live on (Sycamore). You see the park when you speed down Needham, but if you want to experience the park and the neighborhood, just park the car and walk in.It's large. It's peaceful. It's heavily treed. It has a nice playground, tennis courts, and the Mancini Bowl bandshell. It has a lot of open space for throwing the football or frisbee. Or you can lay out a blanket, have a picnic, or just do nuthin'. It feels like the Midwest; not surprising, seeing that Modesto was a magnet for Okies in the 1930s. When you're 1-2 blocks north, the traffic of the big cowtown seems far, far away.And I finally parked the car and walked in; ballet performance at the bandshell. Felt very old-school in a good way, such a gorgeous setting, and it couldn't have been pulled off in any other park in town. It helped that we ate at the A&W Drive-in before coming here; all we needed was to be driving a `53 Cadillac.For those of you into old MGM musicals, here's a fitting ending to this review: If Fred & Cyd were to redo "Dancing In The Dark" in Graceada Park, it would come out almost as magical as it did in "The Band Wagon".

Twelve new permanent pickleball courts, with space far enough apart to walk between them during games and room for seating inside the courts. There is plenty of parking available—large trees and shaded areas, plus a water fountain next to the courts and public restrooms. Skill levels range from beginner to advanced. Drop-in play is available, but some groups sign up on Playtime Scheduler for round-robin play based on skill level. Competitive round-robin playing times for 3.5 to 5 skill levels are 8:00 am - 12 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays are drop-in play, and skill levels are beginner to intermediate on courts 1-6 and intermediate to advanced on courts 7-12. A few challenge courts are available on the last four courts, 9-12, depending on the demand. Balls are available in a locked box on the courts. Keys to the box are available by contacting a Central Valley Pickleball Club member. The homeless group hanging out next to the courts in the gazebo area was relocated by the police department. Also, the city has provided portable bathroom facilities next to the courts.

This park is beautiful. It has two sides, or at least there is another park across the street with a baseball field and is the side for field sports like football and soccer. (You have to cross the street going north) I typically go to the side with the stage, children's play area, water spray area, pool, giant covered picnic area, and tennis courts. The play structure is in the shade!!!!!! Thank goodness for that! Children won't burn themselves in the hot summer sun! The pool is open now! Yay for that! There are no events on the stage anymore. Really sad about it, we actually would get some decent local artist in the past, but those days are long gone :( So the cons.... there are homeless people at this park. I saw 3. They were sleeping on the ground away from the main crowds and away from the children's play area!!!! So glad about that. I would still wear shoes in the water area because who knows what's happened at night so there's that... The water spray area is really sad. They literally have the lowest pressure sprinklers and it's like a water fountain. It's nice for little little babies but my baby is 4 and she gets bored with it in like 5 minutes. There are other parks within vicinity that have better water spray features that keeps children's attention for a bit longer. Other than that this park is great for large parties, the picnic area can seat 50 people easily. My church had their annual picnic here a few times. The children's play area is awesome! Really nice park with big trees. Lots of space. Tennis players practice here regularly. Cute little neighborhood, well mostly. The homesite homeless have moved along because the police keep them from the area now. If that's a concern of yours.

Graceada park is one of the foundational parks in Modesto. They have vastly improved the playground area from my childhood, and the amenities like the splash pad, tennis courts, and gazebo are very useful. The Mancini bowl that hosts the Modesto Band of Stanislaus County has seen an improvement over the years as well. Unfortunately, the public bathrooms are a bit of a mess and you will have to sometimes deal with a problem trying to use them. Use the bathroom at home. Otherwise, this is a great park!

Such a fun park, has a tennis court, a pool, a playground, and of course the Mancini bowl. The bowl is definitely the main attraction as concerts regularly are hosted in it, and everyone can either fit into the seating or get yourself a blanket and relax on the grass. Many memories of going to concerts here and then running off to the playground.

Great park, good size, well maintained tennis courts, picnic tables, and BBQ pits to cook for the family get together, nice children play set... The only disclaimer I would and...to be honest a tad guilty...be on the look out for the overhead large picnic table area usually a gathering of homeless people but they keep to themselves.... speaking only for myself because I don't throw anyone else under the bus involving illegal activities keep an eye for what you don't want your children to see...myself I look out for children and conceal my "weed" bowl...just don't want children having curiosity sparked which leaves them tempted or asking parents those questions that we rather not partake in. Be mindful of the ground areas as well sometimes you may find paraphernalia best you find it and discard it then your kids or pets resulting in emergency room visit.
