Best Tennis courts in Newark, Alameda County for 2026

Newark Community Center Tennis Courts

Summary / Description

4 tennis courts with benches. Standard courts in good shape with some minor tree debris if it's windy. Can be hard to get a spot at certain times. Working water fountain is available and a bathroom in the park nearby. Surrounded by trees. The courts are all functioning well but due to the trees next to the court, there are just too many twigs on the courts in the form of trash making it slippery. The courts can be used for practice with kids when using a smaller part of the court, but not yet worth playing tennis in fear of slipping on the court and getting injured. Courts can get busy with many players, from beginners to good level players, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, Korean and some Mexican players.

Wonderful place for your dog to stretch their legs and socialize with other dogs. Separate children's playground with lots of picnic tables.

Updated my review: the courts are all functioning well but due to the trees next to the court, there are just too many twigs on the courts in form of trash making it slippery. The courts can be used for practice with kids when using smaller part of court, but not yet worth playing tennis in fear of slipping on the court and getting injured Some folks bring there own cordless blower to start playing on the court. May be that is option but it could be a lot of work if playing for an hour or so
Eli Tech: ★★★
Court is nice, but they have to do something with those couches. It’s a public play, but what happens is 2-3 courts out of 4 are busy all day due to couches training there tennis players. I just feel it’s not fare
Negative Reviews:
Arun Prasad: ★
The city has to restrict tennis players to specific time limits, i often see coaches hold onto a court for several hours and rotate their students, while I had to wait for more than 1 hour. Also the leaves on the edges of the court need to be cleaned every week. I once slipped down and dislocated my shoulder. So please be careful
