Its a very large park. There are 44 baseball fields, couple of soccer fields, they leave goaly nets up so you can go practice any time, there are 4 tennis courts, there is a dog park a childrens area, a place for skate boaders, there are rest rooms and drinking water. Even with all that stuff there is still a lot of just open park to do whatever with picnic areas. Great for taking your dogs for walks. Plus no houses that are too close they are across the street. Its a great park you dont feel crowded and its well maintained. Even tho I live in Trona which is about 30 miles away I take my dog there all the time except Sat. they play softball and soccer all day. Only thing I think should be stopped is taking anything glass into the park for that matter from Ridgecrest to Death Valley having anything in glass like bear should be outlawed. It ruining everything having broken glass even at the park where they play soccer.

Currently it is a grass field with soccer goals set up, the goals are half size, right next to this park is a full size soccer goals and tennis court’s. I think it changes depending on the season…

Named in memorial after Kern County Supervisor LeRoy M. Jackson, 1965–77. Owned and managed by Kern County Parks & Recreation Dept., Bakersfield, Ca. 56+ acres located on French St. There are two lighted softball fields, six tennis courts & three lighted soccer fields. All facilities are available for reserving. The park generally has sparse shade. Few playground options available for young children. Grass in poor to average health with dead spots. Restrooms dated, and often vandalized and/or dirty. Curfew/hours lightly enforced, encouraging ne'er-do-wells to use it for questionable activities. Should be renamed to be more relevant to local culture, people, or history. New expansion aesthetically pleasing, but had no local input regarding scope or requirements. Park generally needs a water feature or two to be more enjoyable for families. On site Dog Park built by Eagle Scout Michael Hannifin, Troop 825, and community volunteers. Permit required for use available at County Animal Shelter. On site Skate Park is open to the public from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. Skaters are required to wear a helmet, knee pads & elbow pads. Skate Park funded and built by local youth and volunteers.
CAFFIEND !: ★★★
This park is near low income housing which attracts some questionable passersby. Probably the largest and oldest park in Ridgecrest. Toddlers love it here.
Negative Reviews:Andrew Hernandez: ★
Very poorly maintained fields. No restroom for use when softball season is going on. No shade over dugout, no batting cages, no fences, No snack bar. All city money goes to boys baseball fields. City prioritizes boy sports over girls sports.
