6 public courts, a few of which are on a grade... we picked a flat court, and had the bonus of hitting against a tennis instructor of Saratoga, who himself plays tourneys! Hello G---thank you for all of the tips, and for letting me borrow your Donnay Xenecore to try... what pop it had! We were hanging out this afternoon hitting around the fuzzies, and oddly enough, this is the very first time I've played at these courts. Having been a former resident of Alameda for years, I have even completed the 10K Alameda Run For the Parks--the fast, flat race, that whips around washington Park. Though lucky for it to be a Sunday and no need to pay for meter, folks... this is basically a metered lot! You have been warned... Restrooms are next door. Women's was sickeningly filthy (shall help you keep things down and not get into the nitty-gritty). Fun few hours of cardio exercise, with my 'warmup' being my hour spend at SS's Fit-Lite.

Lovely tennis courts...6 total. Every court has its own entrance so you don't go ruining other peoples games. Easy access and tons of parking. Take your sunblock on a sunny day!! Oh...also eat before you go. It's hard to return a serve when your stomach is growling from the delicious smell of a bbq from the picnic bench area on the field beside the courts.

Sweet BBQ spot for any family or group of friends! It's quite clean for a public park, and there is plenty to do. Awesome tennis courts, plenty of parking, huge grass fields, huge softball field, basketball courts, a lake/pond to walk around, beach, playground, and friendly dogs and people around. Off the top of my head, the best park in Alameda.
Jenn D: ★★★★★
Lots of tennis courts! If you come here during the day it usually isn't a problem getting a court. The courts do get busy at night, so come early. Shared parking lot with the dog parks. Some with and some without meters... so find one without a meter =) It's right next to the SF Bay, so you get a nice breeze while you play too.

Hands down the best courts in Alameda. The wall isn't the greatest, and the courts are pretty popular. There are very few cracks on the courts, so that's good. It kinda sucks that the parking spots closest to the courts are metered, and be careful stepping on any dirt/grass, as there's a dog park nearby (you can figure out why).
James Duff: ★★★★★
Tennis community are super friendly, and welcoming.

This is our go to spot for tennis! The courts are well maintained and the weather always seems to be nice here. Sometimes the courts are full during popular hours so you have to wait a bit. There's a system where you set your arrival time but nobody really uses it, so usually we just end up asking people when they'll be done. Recently they've started becoming more strict on not allowing pickleball which I personally don't mind as a tennis player

Lots of space and little peaceful park squirrels running everywhere with a few separate play areas! Tennis below and volleyball up top. Tons of fun. Picnic area: Squirrel views

Wonderful park with ballfields, tennis courts, very close to the Bay and the Webster St. business district. Vintage baseball games on some Sundays in the summer.
Andy Oppel: ★★★★
This is a great little city park with two baseball fields, a basketball court, tennis courts, a childrens' playground, rest rooms, and a dog park. The property abuts Robert Crown Memorial Beach (an East Bay Regional Park) and thus you can walk seamlessly between the two. (I like walking in the regional park betterr, but I usually walk through the city park to get to it.
Alice Lou: ★★★★★
Nice park, love the swings, basketball court is amazing thanks to the Warriors, tennis courts are well lit and free to use. There’s 2 baseball fields that have several teams that use them. Gorgeous giant trees that provide good shade and super pleasant to view. Small and large dog park, which is always a plus!

we always find an empty tennis court. the weather was about 80 degrees sooo this is thr only time i wish there was shade. other than that, the park is clean.

Here on June 24 and they are open! Not busy yet, but OPEN! Dog and I are happy. Now all it needs is tree replanting and some lights like the tennis courts!

Get you exercise playing tennis, go for a run, walk the dog, have a picnic, or just simply enjoy the sights of the shoreline, The Dog Park is spacious, the pet owners and pets are friendly and polite.

Favorite park growing up and still enjoy. Has a new Golden State Warriors redone and themed basketball court, baseball, softball, tennis and a dog walk
Chris Peyer: ★★★★
Nice playground for the little ones. Also has tennis and basketball courts. Has a few shady characters around, but that's just part of living in the bay area.
Anthony King: ★★★★★

Great Park. Great tennis community
Zac Bowling: ★★★★★
Lovely park. Dog park and tennis courts in the back. Watch out for puddles! Fun fact: this park used to be ocean side until they added land fill. Where it ends going west is where the landfill starts and the the state park begins.
BernaDette Session: ★★★★★
Large neighborhood park. Well maintained playground for children. Public bathrooms, water fountains. Numerous picnic areas, some with grills for cooking. Athletic fields, basketball and tennis courts, nearby dog park. Jogging/walking trails. Parking lot at a fee, free on street parking. Adjacent to Crown Beach with good views. Very busy on weekends.
Anne B. McDonald: ★★★★★
Great dog parks here for small and large animals, as well as tennis courts, good walking path, children's playground, basketball courts, and baseball field.
Francisco Leung: ★★★★★
This is a nice spacious park with softball fields, basketball courts and tennis courts. There are picnic areas and even a workout "gym" area. We came this time for the playgrounds. Two different playgrounds for different age levels. There's a fence around both play areas to keep the kids from wandering off. Great for parents! Nicely designed sandbox with a public servant theme.

Wasgington Park is an historic park with numerous amenities in a low crime city. It has been updated numerous times over the past 130 or so years. The upper park has a baseball field, trees, picnic areas, a children's playground and a clubhouse. The lower park has additional softball fields, room to play soccer, tennis courts and ties into the neighboring Crown Memorial State Beach and Crab Cove parks.

Amazing park -- huge and full of charm! There are plenty of picnic tables and spots to sit, and you can even BBQ here with a beach view. There's a tennis court and a nice fenced dog park, too. Perfect place for a relaxing stroll with your paw buddy. Lots of trees for shade make it super comfortable and plush grass. Washington Park is a hidden gem -- peaceful, relaxing, and one of my favorite spots. Love this place!

Heads up if you found this on Yelp's "Top 10 Best Pickleball Courts" near Oakland. There are no official pickleball courts here. Nice tennis courts, ball fields, playgrounds, basketball courts, parking lot, restrooms, drinking fountain.

Very nice Park that has a children's playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a picnic area near the beach in alameda. I came here for calisthenics exercise purposes. I wish they had a real triple set pull up bar and parallel bar but they don't.
Phil A: ★★★★
A very chill park that has a baseball field, tennis courts, and exercise equipment along the paved walkway. Nice big trees to cool out under and also bathrooms and bbq areas are there also. Also, this park is within walking distance to the beach, so you get that nice breeze in the summer time.
Lai P: ★★★★★
I am so grateful to live near this park. It's very big and a lot of people don't realize there are many areas to explore if you just keep walking past the tennis courts and near the shoreline. There is everything like basketball court, tennis, baseball court. There are swings and a play structure. It's a nice place to BBQ during the summer and make sure you reserve it with the park officials because it gets pretty crowded in the summer time. There is also a small and large dog park with free parking right next to it. If like geese and ducks, you can walk over to the pond area and just sit on the bench. Please don't feed them!! It's also a nice place for a jog and if you are tough enough you can actually follow the shoreline path all the way to BAY Farm.

This is a great park. There's lots of space and grass. There is something for everyone. It has a dog park, beach nearby, tennis courts, baseball field, basketball court, field for football, picnic tables & grills and playground for the kids. There's also restrooms which is always a plus in my book for parks :) Definitely use the restroom near the dog park because it's much cleaner than the one by the picnic tables.

My son calls this Fish Park for the big climbing fish structure. There is sometimes shade, the bathrooms are not so hot, but Spritzer's Cafe is in walking distance and mom can always use a coffee break. Separate little kid and big kids play areas, but good line of site. The playground is pretty contained but you have to park either on Central or down 8th by the tennis courts/dog park and walk to the playground.

Clean, beautiful, lots of families and singles, people with dogs,, ARPD on site during the week, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, restrooms, lots of tables & bbq areas available, walking/jogging paths, baseball field, plenty of trees and grassy areas/fields for sitting, running, or playing. Pretty green benches, lots of trash cans, recycling area, water fountain, close to Webster St., Lee's Donuts, Mountain Mike's, McD's, Pho & Baguette. Birds & squirrels. Close to beach/Crab Cove and dog park. Beautiful palm trees as well. Love this area.

Lower Washington Park is part of a continguous stretch of land from Central Ave, to the beach. parts of this area are named as the baseball field, the beach, lower washington park, upper Washington Park, etc. each section has their own sign. the boundaries are not readily apparent judging by the pics posted. my family mostly enjoyed the tennis courts and the nearby greenery in the Lower Washington Park. some parking available, not a lot. best to go early and on weekdays. it gets busy noonish on a warm day....
Isabel H: ★★★★★
Expansive park with lots of amenities: walk/bike trail, dog parks, tennis courts, basketball courts, restrooms, grills/BBQ pits, baseball fields, etc. Perfect spot to catch the sun set at Crown Memorial State Beach. This park has something for everyone, and having a such a huge, peaceful space like this to have fun in and clear your head is my favorite part about living in Alameda. Some parts of the beach smell like a hint of ass, likely a combination of old seaweed washed up from the bay and geese turds in the lawn (total minefield, so watch your step)!
Annie D: ★★★★
If you were ever in Alameda as a child, you may remember this park as the one with the old train. Well the train is gone, but the park lives on. It was newly remodeled a couple of years ago, and is really a gem of the east bay now. There are top notch playgrounds for 2 age groups, lighted tennis courts, baseball fields, basketball courts, picnic grounds, and it borders the dog park and beach! Parking in the lot is free, and there is plenty of street parking. It is also a short walk to Webster street for and ice cream cone or meal. Just look for the palm tree lined streets, rolling lawns and me.
Deanna A: ★★★★
This park is clean, maintained, and best of all family & dog friendly. It a great sign when you can bring a kid (under 10) and a puppy to a park and not have to worry about both of them putting something weird in their mouth or stepping on something. There are always a ton of family and exercisers at this park. There are tennis courts, open field, picnic area, and a dog park. A big dog & small dog park which is great! For those who don't live in Alameda, its easy to instruct them to the park. Its also easy for them to find parking whether in the lot or in the neighborhood. Its also a great spot to walk around, then all the way to the beach. They just had a fair on the grass. This is also where the See Jane Run marathon will begin.

As I propel my legs forward and gain speed on the swing, I feel happy and carefree as if I was a giddy dirt-stained child again. I love that no one looks at me weird for being a grown woman playing on the swings laughing without a care in the world. Washington Park is a haven for young children, families, and athletes. With its beautifully maintained baseball field, basketball court, walking paths, tennis court, and picnic tables, this park is indubitably the place to be. When your walking through the park, you almost feel like your in Pleasantville. People are talking and laughing with one another, birds are singing, squirrels are running amok, and little kids are playing freeze tag. Even at night, this place is alive. Runners, on the other hand, should beware of the raccoons hiding out in the shadows. Those critters are some freakish devilish things that will attack when threatened.....or hungry! Yikeys! Washington Park is the shiz! I would monkey bar here any day, any time.

Date: 4/23/2016 Time: 11:35 AM 61° Partly cloudy. Yesterday was Earth Day. Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970. Forty-six years of celebrating Mother Earth and the environment. We, as people, need to take better care of the ground we walk on and the air we breathe. Recycle, compost, less items in our landfill, please and thank you. The local newspaper, Alameda Sun, had an insert in its paper, announcing Earth Day to be held at Washington Park on April 23. Event is from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Purpose of visit: Earth day with a host of various vendors, ARPD (Alameda Recreation & Park Dept.), EBRPD (East Bay Regional Park District), APD (Alameda Police Dept.). Cafe Jolie was selling beignets for $4.00. Kettle corn was being sold in three different sizes by a vendor. There were also two businesses signing people up for monthly delivery of organic produce (Farm Fresh to You was one; don't remember the other one). Trader Joe's was handing out samples of free popcorn, free animal cookies. In the field area, they had fun activities for children (inflated bouncing cages, jungle gyms). Weather was perfect to the point that I was humming the song by Spanky and Our Gang, "blue sky, sunshine, what a day to take a walk in the park..." - Washington Park, that is. It is located on the west end of Alameda, within walking distance from my home. I have been to this park numerous times in the past for picnics and bbqs, walks on their paved pathways and getting a workout on the tennis courts. One can also sit in their bleacher area to catch a baseball/softball game during the day or night. Basketball courts are available for shooting a few hoops, 3 on 3 with your buddies or practicing your free throws. It's a great park for families with children, especially when it comes to birthday parties. The park has a play area for young children; and plenty of grassy area in the sun or in the shade to relax with a book, blanket and a few snacks. The only minor drawback: parking can be difficult on the weekends. They have a parking lot, but it fills up quickly.

Went here for a wedding.. Although the ceremony was beautiful and on such a beautiful warm / breezy day sitting under a shaded tree was perfect. The wedding ceremony was located next to a tennis court. Parking lot is small we were lucky to find parking spots. Walked a few yards past the tennis court to the ceremony location. This is where I stopped dead on my tracks. ;( Tons of ducks/ swans / geese ? some kind of bird related Poop .. ugh!! All over the grass area.. (all I could think about was my dirty shoes) I can't wait to have this ceremony to be over so I can clean my nice beautiful alligator hot pink sling back heels .. As soon the ceremony was over I made a quick dash to clean: wipe off the nastiness of my shoes in the bathroom located right at the parking lot..

The Washington Park is one of the larger parks on the main island of Alameda, and it is divided into two sections, the Upper Washington, with the playground, recreation center, basketball courts, and the Lower Washington, where visitors will find the tennis courts, dog park, fitness trail. I think it's a good place for locals to walk around and chill.
Lachelle BOne of my son's favorite parks! It's got everything! A grassy area so we can toss the frisbee or set up soccer area, basketball courts, baseball diamond, tennis courts, 3 separate play structures for different age groups, swing sets & even bathrooms (that I've never used). The dog park is right next to here, too, which is great for all sizes of dogs! Just the right amount of shade & sun. I love taking him here. ★★★

Lower Washington Park is next to Crown Beach and features lots of lit tennis courts, a dog park, and a soccer field. Upper Washington Park has grassy areas popular for picnics, a serious baseball field, and a basketball courts that seems to have a lot of pick up games going on. A sad note. One of the benches under a tree at Washington Park memorializes an Alameda teen who was shot and killed one evening years ago at the Park.

Review #133 - 2018. After we got ice cream, we showed up at the park around 5:30 PM. The park was actually really crowded when we got there so it definitely was the place to be. The boys had their basketball with them so they made their way over to the basketball court to play with the other guys who were already there. The baby and I headed over to the kids playground and there were plenty of kids there. Many of the parents were standing around watching their kids, but definitely do not discipline their kids in how to play with other kids or the act of sharing. Kids here are very aggressive and rude and so are the parents as they just let the kids do whatever they want. The park itself is nice as it has a BBQ/picnic area and a tennis court as well. It's only a few steps away from the beach. If the people here were friendlier, this would be a great place to hang out.
