Tennis Courts Rules

• City of Chino tennis courts may be used free of charge. City conducted tennis programs have priority over all other uses and requests.
• The ethics of tennis and sportsmanship shall prevail.
• Special uses of the tennis courts requiring a permit are as follows:
  • Tennis Instruction
  • Tennis Tournaments
  • Any other usage requiring exclusive reservations for more than one tennis net.
• Courts must be reserved two weeks in advance of requested date. Such reserved courts shall be designated in writing by authorized City staff.
• Private tennis instruction, for monetary gain of any kind, is prohibited.
• Professional tennis instruction will only be permitted by City authorized concessionaires.
• No food or drinks are allowed in court area.
• Pets are not permitted at any time on the courts.
• Only persons wearing tennis shoes shall be allowed on the tennis courts. No street shoes, no wheeled shoes, skateboards, bicycles, and no wheeled vehicles of any type are allowed.
• When others are waiting and all courts are available:
  • Courts may not be held by one person alone.
  • One set of singles or doubles may be played.
  • Sets resulting in tie-all shall be determined by one additional game.
  • Waiting players must remain in person at the court desired. No court can be held nor can priority of right to use the court be established by the placing of a racket or the like on the court.
  • Warming up for matches must not exceed five (5) minutes, after which court must be relinquished.
  • Players who do not wish to play a set may instead rally for 45 minutes, after which the court must be relinquished.
• A maximum of six (6) balls shall be used on any one court, except for City approved tennis instructors.
• Players are expected to accept City staff’s interpretation of the above rules or decisions on the foregoing rules.
• These rules shall also govern night play.
