Positive Reviews:
Hiep Huynh: ★★★★★
The pickleball courts (8) here are great and the wait for Open Play is not too long. Players here are really friendly. There's a playground for young children to play and a huge grass area for big gatherings. The parking lot can fill up quickly if you come late midday.
Lenore Aldridge: ★★★★
Nice little park to play sports, picnicking, birthdays, and exercising. We celebrated my granddaughter’s first birthday her. Parking was a bit of a chore as it was Saturday and there were plenty of parties and get togethers. My daughter in law got a reservation for her selected picnic location months in advance, so proper planning is essential. There a pickleball and tennis courts nearby, as well as playgrounds. Nice location. Also, this park has been around for ages, so not only did my granddaughter have her party here, but this was the place where her mother before her had her birthday party decades earlier. Kinda nostalgic. Playground: Yes, they have a playground. Restrooms: Yes, they have restrooms. Not the most clean and welcoming potty to park your tush, but they are available. Picnic area: Yes, there are many picnic spots. I would advise getting reservations in advance.
Ligia Perez: ★★★★★
My kids love this spot. The fitness plaza next to the play structure is great if you want to keep an eye on your kids while getting a quick workout. It’s the perfect park with plenty of walkways to choose from, a tennis court, pickleball court, and a grassy green area. Parking is easy to find. It does get crowded on the weekends but that’s expected. Overall, I’d give it a 10/10. It’s clean, family friendly and there’s so much to do. The kids love it.
Chris Mountain: ★★★★
This place is great! There are now 8 pickleball courts and fresh paint! The city has rules posted but there is no rotation or skill level system. No rack or wait system for all the courts. It's sort of pick a court and go wait over there. There are many groups of people who know each other and meet via text. They like to play amongst themselves, sometimes they look for people to join in. The good thing is there are usually open courts to do your own thing. There are a lot of nice people. Best of all the lights on until 10 pm. Playground: Lots of variety. Swings and jungle gyms. Cool skate park. Restrooms: Not the best but working. Dog-friendliness: Nice grass! Picnic area: Lots of tables with trash cans and BBQ's right there.
Cheryl Ribley: ★★★★★
Love the Pickleball Courts and really like the people that play there 😁❤️🎉
Rick “Dante” Charleston: ★★★★★
Very nice location. I can say the tennis and pickleball courts are great. I wish more tennis courts were available. Skateboard and park areas with swings. Playground: Nice size park with swings and other playground stuff. Restrooms: Very clean. Dog-friendliness: Yes, at least I see many dogs on leash. Picnic area: Yes, nice location for picnic activities.
Eric Bell: ★★★★★
Love this park. Played tennis here and now play Pickleball. Stays crowded now though. But I can’t blame people because I love Pickleball just as much as Tennis now! Lol P.s These pictures of Pickleball are at my house, not the park though 👍🏿
Alan V: ★★★★
Parking is challenging at times during the week with the school, the YMCA, skateboarding, pickleball, tennis lessons and kids soccer. Some weekdays fill up the parking. Restrooms: Horrible bathrooms, plan to use the bathroom before you leave home Dog-friendliness: Lots of people on their walks with their dogs. Picnic area: This place is built for kids parties. Parking can be a challenge depending on when you have a party.
Jon Hatcher: ★★★★★
Really enjoyed this park, definitely a hidden gem. 3 laps of the walking path is a mile. There are exercise machines, tennis courts, pickleball courts, a playground, and even a concrete skatepark. Lots of grass! Highly recommend
Carla Henley: ★★★★★
Great walking path, plenty of tennis and pickleball courts, a skatepark and a playground. It's a great park for the whole family! Also a big field for family sports or to take your dogs and play.
Tao Of DAO: ★★★★
More pickleball courts than any public park I've seen. Lights cut off at 1015P and everything is pitch black. No lights from the parking lot, either. Also, the fencing on some courts is bent at the bottom, so balls can roll out. Really nice park otherwise.
S Parry: ★★★★★
We are out-of-towners visiting family for the holidays. While here, we’d like to play pickleball. Our daughter, who has recently moved to the area, suggested the pickleball courts in La Mesita. So, we checked out the park and the courts. The park is lovely with a fun playground, restrooms, paved trails, tennis and pickleball courts, a skateboard park, and picnic tables for gatherings. We will definitely return to play on these nicely developed courts.
Tammara Pasquariello: ★★★★
Perfect park for a roller skating, bike riding, tennis, pickleball, skate park - everything you could want. The only thing it's missing is bathroom Doors! Ughhh! Playground: Very nice. Restrooms: No doors :( Dog-friendliness: Yes. Picnic area: Covered - nice
Carol Holland: ★★★★★
La Mesita is a large park with lots of grass and trees. It has many opportunities for recreation including open space, picnic areas, play equipment, fitness equipment, tennis courts, pickle ball courts, and a skate park. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed but must be leashed.
Janet Lake: ★★★★★
Pickleball! The courts are lit until 10:00
Leah Sadowski: ★★★★★
Great place for tennis, pickleball, for my toddler to play in playground and if you so wish...it has a skate park too. Great daytime fun...which is sometimes hard to come by in the COVID-19 era.
Godo Sanchez: ★★★★★

Sara Wegner: ★★★★★

Very green, lots of mature trees for shade, 2 playgrounds and some swings, one gazebo with a handful of unshaded pic nic tables with grills, some tennis courts and a nice walkway that goes around. Fairly clean bathrooms. The only negative point is the constant freeway noise. Serene place for a little afternoon.

The city of La Mesa knows how to maintain its parks. Had not been here in several years. It was nice to see well-maintained grounds, tended trash and beautiful playground equipment and tennis courts. This is a peaceful spot for a picnic or to kick the ball around with the kids.
CDRiven: ★★★★★
Great park! Has large amounts of grass and a decent sized playground. Has a YMCA in the back with 4 tennis courts. Also has an enclosed skate park in case you want to practice your kick flips. The park also takes reservations for parties to be hosted at the park. Often families will come and play sports on the grass field. A very dog friendly park.
Nicholas Brannam: ★★★★★
Fantastic park. Great place for kids to safely learn to ride bikes or whatever. Has a skate park in the back and tennis courts as well.

It's a beautiful park! My bf and I used the tennis court, and it was great. We'll DEFINITELY be back!😁

My parents took me to Dallas Park (that's what we called it) as a kid to ride our bikes. It was the perfect park for it. You could start on the flat basketball-court-sized cement area then move to the ring around the flat cement. After mastering both of those, most of the rest of the park has a cement track running around it, perfect for kiddos like mine to fine tune their bike (or skateboard or inline skates) skills. I would say not much has changed about the park, but a few years ago it received a brand new play area for the kids to enjoy. It's not as awesome as Harry Griffith Park's play area but it's nothing to scoff at either. On the right day there's sometimes enough wind to pop a kite in the air. On the south side of park you'll find tennis courts, a YMCA, and skate park if that's your thing as well. In short, La Mesita has a lot to offer and I highly recommend it for learning how to ride a bike. Cheers

Nice park. Big Gazebo and has Tennis courts, play structure and a small skate park. Also big grass area for kids to run around and tire themselves out in.
Kristelline: ★★★★★
Most people are quickly running in to use the YMCA so the parking is constantly changing. The tennis courts are always in use. Individuals and groups make it exciting and interesting as everyone is doing their own thing.
Bai Sang: ★★★★
It has a tennis court and a nice pathway to ride your kids' scooters. The grass area is big enough to play catch with a baseball or football

Wish they could find a way to build more courts for pickleball or convert tennis courts to pickleball 3 nights a week. There are consistently 60+ people vying for 8 courts.
JM Stumpfel: ★★★
It's a beautiful park with lots of amenities, such as tennis courts, skate park, paved trail, playground equipment, picnic tables, etc. It is near the YMCA, which has a pool and nice gym. There is an upper field where baseball is played. Though there is ample parking, there are times where it's impossible to find a spot in the lot because of YMCA activities (swim lessons, day camp, etc.) To echo other reviews, yes, the bathrooms are gross.
AARON JOHNSON: ★★★
It's equipped with grass play equipment, picnic sites, tennis courts and a path for kids to skateboard on a rather large parking lot so if you're looking for a quick family little little get together or whatever it may not be in the best location but it will suit your needs

Evening pickleball culture is the worst. One must put a paddle up for play on just one court and they allow winners to stay on the court. This means that better players never leave the court and can play several games in a row without having to wait while 20-30+ players are left out having to wait a long time to play IN A PUBLIC PARK! Stupid and rude. Came back a few months later. Got kicked off the court because it was reserved for lessons but there was no sign about it and the teacher of the lessons could have given us a heads up about that about to happen but chose instead to wait until it was rudely demanded we leave NOW. I said there was no indication of a reserved court and I was told “everyone knows this.” Visiting from out of town I couldn’t know and that claim is impossible mind reading. Challenge courts are not marked clearly. Everything about the culture of this PUBLIC PARK is a culture set up by the better players to assure that the “lesser” players must wait longer and get to play fewer games. (I am a good player. That does not give me preferential rights.) I believe it should be set up so everyone gets equal access to play instead of this rude mess. I kept being told “this is the way we do it here and everyone knows it” which is not true. Doing things this way just because some snobbish player in the past set it up that way is a bad argument. “This is the way it has always been done” is the end of human progress.

Don’t bother with the pickle ball courts if you’re not really good. This is the least friendly pickleball community you could find
