Pickleball Open Play

  • Pickleball Open Play is a scheduled time for players of ALL SKILL LEVELS to play with each other.
  • Courts are available on a first come, first play basis. When there are more than 16 people wanting to
play, the ALL COURT PADDLE QUEUE will be used to organize players rotating onto the courts. We
encourage players to meet new people, introduce themselves, and mix up play as much as possible.
  • All players on the courts during Open Play are part of Open Play. There are no beginner courts, no
advanced courts, and no reserved courts during this time.
  • Everyone should play together using the ALL COURT PADDLE QUEUE ROTATION. If you want to play
in a different format, take advantage of the MIXED USE times.
  • All skill levels are welcome at OPEN PLAY. Please let others know your skill level when joining a game.
  • MIXED USE PLAY is a great time to practice your skills.

Using The All Court Paddle Queue Rotation

  • During open play when the courts are full, all players must use the ALL COURT PADDLE QUEUE to rotate
onto a court to keep recreational play moving. PADDLE QUEUE rotates from left to right. THE QUEUE IS
GROUPED IN SETS OF 4 BY COLOR. The color defines each playgroup.
  • Add your paddle to the next open slot in the paddle queue.
  • THE PADDLES DO NOT MOVE, the clip at the bottom of the paddle queue moves right to designate the
    next group up.
  • When a court opens up, the leftmost 4 players can use the vacated court.
  • All players waiting to play should be ready to enter the court as a group.
  • When the right side of the paddle queue is reached, paddles start filling in again in the left most slot.
  • If a player is available to play but chooses to not to take their turn, that player moves their paddle to the
    end of the paddle queue.
  • If no other players are waiting to play, the same 4 players may continue to play another game.
  • NO HOLDING SLOTS for players that are not available to enter the court.
  • If 4 people want to play together, group your paddles together in the next available color group.
  • DO NOT TOUCH or MOVE another person’s paddle without their permission.
  • Double stacking of paddles is NOT ALLOWED (playing a game while having a second paddle waiting on
    another court).

Pickleball Safety Guidelines

  1. If your ball enters another court, immediately call “BALL ON” or similar to warn players whose safety may be in jeopardy. Make eye contact with the correct person and roll or toss it back to them without disrupting play on other courts.
  2. Always pause and ask permission if you need to pass through a court to get to an open court; DO NOT pass while a game is in active play.

Positive Reviews:

We came looking for a playground for the kids based on the pictures in prior reviews but to no avail . No playground for children exist. However, the park is quite and a nice spot to have lunch. Open spaces. There is a soccer field that doubles as a baseball field. There are tennis and a basketball courts on opposite sides of the park.
E John Feig: ★★★★
This is a great little park and playground in the middle of Redwood Shores. There's tennis courts, a field for sports (soccer, baseball), a picnic area next to the water, and a playground with a fenced off section for kids under 3. We take our daughter there to put her on the swings, and play in the under 3 area. The one issue with the playground is that it uses wood chips, which get stuck all over, especially when she's crawling around on the ground. We also have to keep a close eye that she doesn't put them in her mouth. Either way, it's a fun place to walk to, and a good treat for the little one.
Christopher Calhoun (StarLord / Andron): ★★★★★
Nice, clean, well maintained park with tennis, soccer, basketball courts, baseball area, bathrooms, sandbox, play structure, sitting benches, open and reserved picnic tables, BBQ, beach with water access (kayak to Belmont Channel and Redwood Shores Lagoon), Spot for a bouncy castle. Spread out parking areas and free street parking here.
Elena Ayala: ★★★★★

Can you play pickleball here?
Kanda M: ★★★
Google map shows only one entrance to park. Beware.
Medical Unicorn: ★★★
Small local park with a few parking spots. Playground for kids in a different area that one has to access via a dirt trail around the bend. Picnic table, basketball court and grassy area. Seems like there should be benches in the main area. Path stops and has no continuity. Garbage bins and doggy bags provided.
Freckles Redhead: ★★★
The bathroom was dirty and there was literally water spraying out of the pipes to the toilet! The park was pretty small. There were some decent water views but shoreline doesn't look very clean.
Scott Hetherington: ★★★
A good park to walk your dog. The soccer field is decent, but the way its aligned makes it difficult to be a spectator (sun is in your eyes).
Negative Reviews:
Jason Teh: ★★
Rained a day ago buy courts are still wet
Jessica Xu: ★
No play ground exists. The pic with the play structure was 7 yrs ago and should be removed to cause confusion
Nelson Chow: ★★
Parking could be problem. Very difficult to turn around.
